They used footage I had for this documentary. I had a long talk with one of the producers when they asked me for it in January.

This docuseries was mainly done mainly by eOne Entertainment and they controlled the editing, not Master P. Remember he doesn't own the catalogue, but that's another story. That's why this series actually as close as non-biased as we might get by showing some of the not-so-good aspects.

Thus, they couldn't really thoroughly fact check everything said and had to take some people's words at face value. Especially if it isn't easily verifiable by a Google search. Much of the late 90's stuff isn't. So yes, there's gonna be some exaggerations throughout the series. Artists and label execs especially.

I was shocked when they told me that Viacom doesn't have much of the 90's BET footage digitalized. Lots of it is just sitting in the storage that they show at the beginning of the Chronicles episodes.

Yes, No Limit sold lots of records. They shipped gold & platinum on the first day for many albums. Problem was many didn't actually Soundscan aka sell that much. That's exactly why P would up losing the catalogue to Priority and later Beats by the Pound.

Remember: shipping certifications (RIAA) were basically only for vanity in the analog days. You get paid based on actual sales, which Soundscan documents.

So yes, No Limit could convince enough stores to preorder 500k copies of Steady Mobb'n. They get a Gold plaque the first day but are liable to only sale 150k after 6 months.

From the early days, P's greatest strength was always his ablity to leverage large advances based on high pre-orders. He knew how to talk to convince stores to carry his music.

Again, I'm not trying to downplay P's success at all. But, we just can't romanticize the story. There's also much to learn from NL's downfall.

PLEASE DO NOT GO BY WIKIPEDIA NUMBERS THAT DON'T SITE ANY SOURCES!

By no means am I attacking you:

But going by your logic, P is shipping 3 million copies of I got the hook up to stores?? Why would someone ship 3 million copies for a soundtrack?

Why didn't P ship 3 or 4 million copies of I"m bout it or Ice Cream man?

By going by your logic and saying No Limit is convincing stores to ship an x amount of copies of an album doesn't make sense.

Also, the dude who said that IGTHUP sold 3 in 3, wouldn't know anything about this, he's on the "outside" of the company.

When Ice Cream man came out, the "single" was huge at the time.

By going by your logic, with a huge single, P is only going to ship 500k albums around the world? And only 500k sells?

That doesn't make logical sense to anybody, that's why I'm calling cap on these websites that put these numbers out.

Eone is controlling the editing, not Master P.

If that is the case, Why would E one allow people to make false statements??? P making 56.6 and No Limit being worth 400 is true???

Them putting up Fiend - There's one in every family selling a million and Mama Drama selling a million isn't true?? When as folks say, they could easily look at these websites?? This does not make sense, Either it's true and they put these albums in the segment as them selling a milli, or it isn't true because Eone (who is doing the editing) has seen the information out about these albums. They will take that part out or not have that mentioned.

Also Eone, sat and heard where the man made the statement about IGTHUP being 3 in 3, You don't think that they would make calls to verfiy this information??? You don't think they would jump on these sites and send over this information to P or whoever so that they could dispute what dude has said?

I"m calling cap on these websites...These websites been on the funny style when it came to rappers, they did the same thing to NWA and Easy E, when they were selling crazy albums...

The Last Don - RELEASED JUNE 2th, 1998

Sold million units

July 10, 1998 - Gold

July 10, 1998- Platinum

July 10, 1998 4x

Make this make sense

It didn't sell 4 million records in a little over a month. 2 million copies were shipped. Since it was a double album, it qualified for 4X platinum (2 million X's 2).

Soundscan has that album at 2 million about the same amount Snoop sold.

This is some of the goons

I actually really have more Cash Money TV footage than No Limit (they were on TV more).

I got all kinds of classic hip-hop footage on my channel. Lotta documentaries hit me up for some stuff I recorded as a kid haha

Peep my channel

@Marlo Barksdale @NO-BadAzz @OHSNAP! @JustCKing

So Master P doesn't own the NL masters anymore but still holds the rights to his catalog correct? (Ice Cream Man, Ghetto D)

At one point, I think Snoop owned the rights because he did some deal with Priority and re-released some of the albums:

Several Priority releases including other No Limit albums got re-released under Snoop.

I’m shocked they had V90 on the doc. That name and infamy make me imagine he the type of nikka you only call for “special” jobs. Sounding like a secret weapon the president would push the button on for DEFCON 5 purposes.
I got my game from a nikka named Vercy (V-90)

I'm glad they remastered Ghetto D, goodness gracious the mixing on these albums smh.
Also I thought Craig B did Bout It, Bout It, but before he was going by KLC it was CRAIG OFF THE PARKWAY, had me confused.
If only they could remaster I'm Bout It Soundtrack and TRU 2 Da Game

Do you know how many people make false statements over the air? Not all media companies have fact checkers.

That does not make sense with what you're saying and what is listed.

The album came out June 2nd.

So how many albums were shipped when it came out on June 2nd?

I don't care about them sites. That's cap as I keep saying and what you are saying doesn't make sense...

The album was released in June 2nd...P's last album...highly anticipated album

How many albums were shipped on June 2nd?
