Yes it is a lie because if you look on RIAA.com, most of those albums don't have a certification. It is updated as of the first week of this month.

So there's a whole segment in this series that list these albums selling in 1998, but yet you saying that it's a lie??

As I told you, RIAA doesn't catch mom and pops store.

Breh, the media does this all the time. They get numbers wrong or embellish certifications. This information is available online refuting the numbers they are dishing out in the doc.

If the information is online, it's been online before this series was put out.... P knows that RIAA and the information is online.

Yet P still lies about his numbers??? The guy Rodney a hip hop writer, lies about album sales??

Why would they lie about album sales?? They are not making music no more and again as YOU said, The information is online, so why get on TV and say I got the hook sold 3 million in 3 months, when it didn't even do 200k in it's first week according to you and your sources???

That's a helluva lie for a soundtrack that wasn't even that important like that... Why not just say it sold a million copies or hell WHY EVEN BRING UP THE SALE OF THE ALBUM?? Especially if the numbers and information has already been online BEFORE THE DOC CAME OUT

Make that make sense breh

For starters, its obvious they aren't fact checking the information before they put it out there. If it makes them look good and people believe it, of course they are going to run with it.

Puff Daddy ran ads in The Source that Forever had gone 2X platinum. It was false because it is still only certified platinum after 21 years.

This.

They ain't gonna do the research though because they are too naive and gullible to accept the truth. P could've said he sent two hummers to the moon and back and they would believe it.

People lie, but nikkas aint getting on a series lying about album sells, especially in that big of a sense

A nikka saying I Got the hook sold 3 million in 3 months when according to RIAA or a source it only pushed 182k in its first week. This info been out on the net, but yet a nikka aint lying to that extreme about a soundtrack?

A soundtrack for a love comedy movie, cut it out

RIAA does not automatically certify an album. You have to request it and pay for it.

Enough already guys

@JustCKing and @letti cook are correct, RIAA and BB can be trusted, RIAA don't have any reason to not certify a NL album that sold over a milly as platinum

I've lived through those times, and remember how IGTHU OST went plat, various albums didn't hit gold (No Limit Soldiers compilation, any Magic, Mac, Skull or Serv album, Street Life...) as expected, P and C and Boz got frustrated in 99, as well as Priority obviously, hence all the blowups and scandals (BBTP and many soldiers leaving, beefs with Pimp C, Yukmouth, Pastor Troy, C-Bo and more, rebuilding phase between November 99 and May 2000,Wild Boyz album as a shot at Cash Money)

@Goldz-n-hoez and @NO-BadAzz whether it's P, Boz, Mr Marcelo or Rodney the writer, they ARE lying, just like Birdman or Puffy (as stated as examples in this thread) or everyone else in the business. Exaggerating and embellishing is as old as the music industry itself. Image is everything, perception is reality

its frustrating because Im a No Limit fan and i was following this shyt in real time

i know what those albums sold...so when people want to cling to these ridiculous statements and numbers its :snoop: because it kills the credibility of what they actually accomplished...we aint gotta front about the shyt...you had 5 platinum rappers on one label and more that went gold...that in itself is AMAZING and far better than other labels who get put above No Limit have ever done. So why we gotta front like Mia X sold 3 mil on Mama Drama..or like Mac went platinum....its unnecessary

Why would they fact check their own business?

If you running an ice cream shop and you know how much you have sold, are you going to go the news paper to see how much they have you selling?

If the news paper has you selling 100 ice creams in a month, and it's been printed out there for YEARS, you don't think someone has told you this information? You don't think with all your staff and associates that work for your ice cream shop, that this information about you selling only 100 ice cream cones hasn't made it back to you? The Newspaper tracks all ice cream sells and you know about it

This news paper tells you that you that you only sold 100 ice cream cones, but you put out that you sold 2,000, and you know that this newspaper is the so call standard for ice cream, but yet you and your team, network, get on TV and say you have sold 2,000 ice creams in 2 days?? when the newspaper has you selling on 10 ice cream in the first week?

You saying P and his team, artists, handlers, lawyers, can't go on RIAA and see their numbers?

This X 100. If its one thing we can all agree on is that what No Limit accomplished won't be done again. Everyone who saw them take off and release albums every week and was actually there copping the albums and bumping the music, it really was a time to be alive.

This

How many rap labels had FIVE different rappers going platinum at least once? Plus two soundtracks and a group album going platinum (not sure bout 504 Boyz)? Only Def Jam, Cash Money and Death Row at this level

It is called PROMOTION. Even if I kept count of how much I sold, I could still embellish the figures to make it look like I sold 10, 100, or 1000x's more than I actually sold. Why? Because people will look at the figure and think "He must be doing something right. Let me check this out".
