He didn't throw the punch from the standing position he would have to throw the kick because he couldn't, he lunged in frustration, do you have eyes, he didn't throw a punch first then lunge, he lunged first to get close enough to close the punch

If Aldo had any type of head movement and lateral movement, he could change angles and give conor different looks, and close the distance an inch a time

You're somehow implying that Aldo couldn't have taken a hard step in first and leg kicked as opposed to lunging in to punch which is not the case. Aldo made the wrong decision.

It was suppose to be Connor pressing forward fast, not Aldo. One thing I will admit was that Connor can obviously attack from all angles. He usually moves back to reset. Maybe thats what Aldo was hoping for off the tape and didnt expect the punch to come with Connor moving backwards
