Melo like Kobe tend to take bad shots while Lebron doesn't
False. He attempts turn-around fade-aways and shots on 1 foot.
What was that shot he took to end the 1st quarter against Houston last season? 3's are the least efficient shots (
that's why their worth the most points) but he takes them, doesn't he (and doesn't shoot them well)? He takes more 3's than he does mid-range jumpers. He doesn't attempt difficult shots as much as elite shooters because
he can't make them with
any kind of consistency. Guys like Jordan, Kobe, 'Melo, Pierce etc all those shots consistently and Lj can't. Unlike Kobe, Lj can't make shots with a hand in his face or on 1 foot consistently like elite shooters. He
needs to be wide open”.
Kobe and 'Melo have worked on their shooting so much that they don't need to be big and fast to be effective. They can shoot from the perimeter with good defenders draped all over them
with consistency. If Lj had to do that, he
wouldn't score. Kobe shoots on 1 foot, fading away over double-teams
and makes them with consistency. Last year, I watched that Lakers/Denver WCF series and just about every shot Kobe took was turn-around fade-aways on one 1 foot and other tough shots like it. He still shot 48% from the field and 62.7% True Shooting, which is just
.
He shoots 45% from the field and 55% True Shooting for his career with few easy baskets. 'Melo's numbers are similar. The season before last, 'Melo shot
56.9% on 65 turn-around fade-aways.
Dylan observed...
Yes, the shot appears terrible. But Anthony is an unbelievable player, so it's no surprise that one of the most difficult shots in the game actually produces quality results for him.
He shot 64.7% on his quick spin baseline from the post, 63.6% on his one-dribble baseline, quick spin middle, etc. You can read Dylan's article on this
here. He's efficient on fade-aways over double-teams and other tough shots like it. That's why I always expect them to go in.
