My argument against mowgli is always that you can't think that Royce Gracie is similar in skill level to Ken Shamrock.
Royce Gracie is like the Bruce Lee of BJJ - So it takes far more skill and natural ability to become a gifted BJJ practitioner than it does any other martial art. Ken Shamrock is your run of the mill fighter honestly he's a dime a dozen. He's ranked/seeded but he's not at the pinnacle of anything.
This is why I say for the vast majority of frail dudes they need to focus on another art maybe in combination with BJJ fundamentals which build mostly stamina and endurance. You look at the rest of the Gracie family there is a WIDE gap in both natural talent and skill genetically not everyone is gonna get the magic and also some just don't prioritize the legacy as much as others. There are 2 gracies by name only who actually are on par with Royce and another one I forget the name. If BJJ was the god-send that mowgli claims it to be then why can't a B-ranked BJJ fighter beat an A-ranked fighter from another style in a controlled match using ONLY BJJ?
As you see porky the pig lost the match because he's mostly fat and no muscle. More muscle mass gives you more endurance reserves and burst strength necessary in a fight.
Nah breh, Royce was the runt of the litter. Rickson Gracie was the Bruce Lee figure of BJJ and the Gracie family, Royce was selected by his father Helio and brother Rorion to represent Gracie Jiu Jitsu *because* he looks like a p*ssy (well compared to a cat like Severn). The biggest draw of jiu jitsu is skill over physicality. You do not need to overpower your opponent to submit him at all (provided the opponent isn't also a skilled submission artist).
I agree with what you're saying in a sense, Roger Gracie, arguably the best BJJ practitioner of this generation washed out of MMA because he was too physically inferior to many of his opponents, and got lit up on the feet routinely, but that said you're comparing high level pro's rather than regular guys like Mowgli and Coli Member X. If Mowgli's brown belt is real, I'd pick him to beat everyone on the Coli except krackdagawd and that one ammy MMA fighter. Skinny dudes can beat brolic dudes if there's a huge skill gap - anyone can get choked and a hard fist or high kick to the chin or temple can KO anyone (especially if they don't see it coming)
. None of these Coli dudes except a few posters in The Ring can fight like that though, you can tell by how impressed they are by world star videos with ridiculously shytty technique, and how they describe themselves when they make empty online threats to sound tough. Royce's opponents back in the day had zero BJJ training, so he could control them and ultimately submit them using all technique and very little physicality (they didn't know *how* to hip escape etc. so resistance predicated on physical superiority was meaningless). That being said, though Shamrock and Gracie are far behind UFC fighters of today in every facet of fighting, back in the day Shamrock was very legit, he had wins over Bas Rutten, Mo Smith, Matt Hume and Severn. What Royce did was VERY impressive and again a testament to how effective BJJ is against people not trained in it (even other martial artists).
Akebono lost cause he sucks btw.
