Yeah sorta, but it's really the only way to handle the situation
If he takes the QO, he's pretty much saying he doesn't want to be in Chicago I feel like
It doesn't mean we wouldn't be the front runners to sign him, but he'd be sacrificing like 15 mil over the next year just to have the ability to be unrestricted (and to have the early chance at mega money)
If Jimmy signs the QO and the Lakers have a big free agency (E.G. let's say sign LMA and Tyson), they would probably consider trading us Clarkson and Randle to have his rights this season and compete right away for a title. Maybe even be favorites with that lineup

The front court is stacked as is and I don't see Randle as a 3 at all
It just sounded as if Jimmy wanted a 2 year max deal with a player option
Guess I can't blame them not allowing themselves to be used as leverage
