At the very least he should finally go over Okada. He also got that US heavyweight belt to defend:yeshrug: Hopefully he can elevate it like Nakamura did for the IC belt.

They still bullshytting with Omega though, wasting the hype.

Omega should've won the belt in January from Naito

I think he should've won it at Dominion and kept it till the October Sumo Hall show, but given the current landscape the best card for the Dome is Okada/Naito and Omega/Ibushi :manny:

They've wasted Naito's hype for longer.

Absolutely, you'll never hear me say otherwise. Naito should have been on the reverse Tanahashi path a while ago.

They take shyt to the extreme, it's great to build tension, fill out a story arc but it's got a limit. You never want it to come off deflated when you finally pull the trigger.

I now skip everything before intermission, but even in the G1 I pick and choose matches and it's still too damn much. So easy to fall behind on, too.
No doubt.

As a night shifter, the G1 feels catered to my leisure. I'm at work when WWE is on, come home in time to watch New Japan live. Even if I got some OT...at worst, I'd miss a block match or two.

I also multitask like a motherfukker.

But there's so much you can still miss. The significance of Okada and Suzuki's draw on August 8th, which show had the smarkiest crowd, that Fale was originally mentored and rolled with Nagata (sidenote: I don't care for dude's in ring work...but he was entertaining, and further imposing this year).

The G1 is like March Madness. It's a lot of groundwork for the rest of the year, and there's tons of content to absorb with unique matchups galore...but when you pick and choose, you are feasting! :eat:

I think Kenny and Okada might pull an all timer tomorrow. It's gonna be a red hot Sumo Hall that kinda knows they are gonna watch Omega finally pull it off and they have to work less than 30 minutes. It has all the ingredients for them to finally have the amazing match they have in them :lupe:

I've only been checking for NJPW since WK9 but have to admit that I was :to:for Nagata's last match.

Zack Sabre Jr. is now officially Suzuki Gun's version of that one White goon in Hong Kong movies who is OD sadistic :whoo:

. The transitions were just :ohlawd: Choked Ishii the fukk out :wow:

Suzuki watched him torturing the Stone Pitbull like :birdman:........:obama:.......:birdman:

Naito The Gawd :wow:. Dude is ON right now. Damn near every spot they've been to is fukking with him. Merch checks must be :whew:

Tana still the Mayor Of Dragon Screw Leg Whip City :wow:

The G1 has been fun as hell to follow this year. For me the fact that everyone works a different style has kept it entertaining.

It really sucks the way they are dealing with these last tournament appearances of the legends. Not a single special "he still got it" moment. Just losing all the matches except for one or two.

I agree. There's nothing that's stops them from booking a really good run with a legend getting to the last day with legit chances to advance to the Finals.

I mean, the fact that the winner now gets the Dome title match changes things because you can't just give a "thank you" G-1 win unless you then book him to lose it in the coming months - which would feel kind of cheap - but there's no reason not to create a fun and compelling story with a retiring veteran instead of just making him job over and over again.
