I'll say this. I went to LA in 2021 and I wanted to see the store itself, not necessarily where he passed away.
It was fenced off and there were merch tables where Cowboy and others were selling Marathon gear outside the fence. I didn't even park, just kept driving by.
I wonder if they city made them stop selling altogether.
Very sad that the store is not open. You'd think it would be making a lot of money since his passing. Gotta be some politics behind it.

I can pay my respects to Nipsey without taking pictures/going where he got killed at.
A lot of these ppl want to make it seem like they been in the hood, chillin' with the 60s.

if you show respect they will acknowledge it and leave you alone, if this is true it might be because they get tired of rival hoods crossing out the mural.
I went the weekend after he was shot because I was on my way to Santa Monica and wanted to see what was going on. His Jag was still there and of course, there were crips everywhere, but at that time no one was tripping. Visiting years later? Nah.
the mural is behind the store and people want to see where Nip's legacy was, no different than the intersection of where 2pac died in Vegas.
large gang with a lot of members who do a lot of shiesty shyt, lot of hustlers from the hood too, so more destitute gangs hate on them, lot of violence behind them and roll thick (imagine going to magic mountain or world on wheels and having 30-40 gang members running around knocking people out, lot of the hood is actually middle-class/upper class too so you have people who hate on them for having a silver spoon. In terms of Ingelwood, Chain Gang (IFGB precursor) and whatever gangs made up the 60s been going at it since the 1960s and the classic LA vs Inglewood rivarly) but a lot of gangs are hated lol. Hoovers, NHC ECC, 18st, Florencia 13, ESL, Families, DLGB, BPS, 100s.
@Coco LocoThe Marathon Store became like a hiphop landmark immediately after Nipsey's death for people wanting to come pay homage/show respect. It symbolized what Nip stood for and is a big part of his legacy. Maybe some tourist's are naive or unaware of the politics and dangers around the sotre but I'm not going to be too hard on anybody going there because the intent is from a respectful place.
