The problems Nioh 2 dont really manisfest till the higher difficulties. This shyt isnt dark souls its diablo :francis:

Also Team Ninja games have incredibly complex control schemes, you gotta use every button and every combination available to play those games efficiently so when you put them down its almost impossible to pick back up if you let it sit too long.

You gotta do these ki burst to regain stamina, the yokai parry, then you got the magic, summons, sword stances, ranged abilities, different weapon combos, items, etc. etc.

Wo long is kind of the same, so Idk…

I know this is an old thread and I'm a huge fan of both however....

Sekiro is one of the best games ever no way does Nioh or Nioh 2 come close to Sekiro in any way.

Nioh 1 i kind of enjoyed and somehow managed to put 60 hrs into and beat. Nioh 2 made small improvements in so many areas that the overall game felt considerably better.

Years later after beating both games, id have to say Sekiro is the better overall game but I had more fun playing Nioh. Sekiro's bosses are top tier though.

Nioh 2 had really good bosses. The story setting the bosses up was obviously way better in Sekiro, but just boss for boss Nioh 2 might be better.

:hubie: I got the platinum in all 3 of them, Sekiro wouldn't have been any easier for you. Honestly I hated Sekiro first time I attempted to play through it. Got to the Guardian Ape and said fukk this game. Came back months later started over and fell in love with the game.

The combat in Nioh 2 is insane compared to the 1st game especially once you figure out the whole soul core system (I'm pretty sure that's what it was) you can completely destroy bosses. Really I'd say you are not missing much by skipping right to Nioh 2.

I feel like while these games have some overlap, they're very different experiences overall. I would consider Sekiro to be the better overall game for sure but Nioh 2 is the only other Souls-like I've ever really fukked with and I dumped 150 hours into it

Nioh 2 is way more RPG/buildcraft heavy by a very wide margin. I feel like I spent wayyyy more time experiementing with moves/combos, builds, weapon types, etc. In terms of overall mechanics and controls the combat is more technical/complex. I really liked how you essentially get to build your weapons moveset over time along with the character customization. Also being mission-based makes its pacing and replayability different.

Sekiro is a more focused action game with less combat variety but has way better movement and exploration. Fromsoft's level design is also shytting all over Team Ninjas respectively. I could see endgame nioh 2 being more grindy/difficult than Sekiro but I feel like as far as the main game is concerned, sekiro is harder. The bosses in the last third or so in both games are all :bryan:status regardless
