Are we japanese now? Why does this matter?
Because that is an important market in terms of sales and also a big reason why Sony always did better then Microsoft. To say it is not important is being ignorant. Are we japanese now? Why does this matter?

I mean Darksouls 1 is on SwitchIt would be amusing to see a child trying to play a Soulsborne game on the Switch only to break the system.
I like Mario and Zelda as much as the next man but OP is right.
All of Nintendo’s games are made for kids. Sure an adult can play and have fun with them, but from a game design standpoint everything they do is kid friendly.
Imagine a Mario game where they didn’t have to worry about making it so 7 year olds can play. We could get some truly difficult and complex platforming challenges. But instead we get a game where 99% of the game is little to no challenge, then you get a little piece at the end that actually offers a challenge. But most people won’t have the desire to collect 30,000 mindless collectibles to unlock.
