The success of the Switch should get 3rd parties attention. Also pretty sure Smash Bros and a 2D Mario are on the way soon

The reason Nintendo is going so hard is because they consider smartphone gaming a threat and rightfully so. This is why we have a lot of android and iOS games in the eshop. They're really going against Apple and Google, not Microsoft and Sony. I think Microsoft and Sony has figured that out which is why they keep giving Nintendo their props cause mobile gaming has taken over the gaming industry.

They messed up with the pricing structure for Super Mario Run and even admitted as much. They are having more luck with Fire Emblem cause they have a better pricing structure for it. Pokemon Go made them a lot of money but they only partially own the franchise. Nintendo's shareholders pressured President Iwata before he died, to make more mobile games because research was showing that mobile gaming would surpass console gaming (and it actually did last year). Nintendo has barely scratched the surface in releasing games for iOS and Android but once they get better at it it's a wrap. Until then they're depending on Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch's Competition Isn't The PS4 Or Xbox One, It's The iPad

It'd actually a good strategy. While waiting to get more Nintendo games on iOS and Android, convince iOS and Android gamers to buy a Switch. It's a two-pronged approach.

Nintendo wants a piece of that smartphone gaming pie. Compared to Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo is entering the game really late. Microsoft has games like Spartan Strike and Sony has Sackboy Run but their pricing structures is not as competitive as 'free to play' games.

lolwut? 3rd Party games are what carry the XB1.

..anyways, Nintendo has ALWAYS held down their own consoles. It's the core of their business model, along with selling consoles at a profit. Been this way since the N64.
Have they? :mjpls:

Did you see the Wii U's first party lineup in year 1? :scust:

It's the best time to be a rinky dink smartphone game developer. Your game can literally release on every platform these days. Nintendo has finally caught on to this.

Microsoft been figured this shyt out tho thats why they bought Minecraft. Ugly ass game.

People REALLY need a reminder of how utter shyt Wii U's first year was:

Nov/Dec: About 30 half assed late ports, Zombi U and New Super Mario Bros U. Decent launch line up right? Now lets take a look at the rest of the year:

January: Nothing

February: Nothing

March: Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter Tri and Need For Speed

April, May June, July: NOTHING!

August: Pikmin 3, which was suppose to come out in March

September: Rayman Legends which was suppose to be a exclusive launch game, Wind Waker HD and The Wonderful 101, which came out the same week as GTmotherfukkingA 5.

October: Deus Ex, Human Revolution: Directors Cut, Sonic Lost World, Just Dance 2014, Lego Marvel Super Heroes and Wii Party U

November: Super Mario 3D World. Yeah, the Wii U had to wait 11 MONTHS for it's next big game!:mindblown:

December: DR Luigi:beli:

Anyone that says the Switch has the worst 1st year compared to the Wii U needs their nuts kicked off.:camby:

EA dropping Mass Effect 3 at full retail price while PS360 got the entire trilogy at the same time was ruthless :heh:

Yeah because assassins creed and sonic is enough :stopitslime:

And the switch has more 3rd party support than the Wii did at this point/time. And the support they did have was trash trying to cash in on motion controls. But hey, assassin's creed and sonic balanced it all out :usure:
breh, it was a bunch of games, sonic, assasins creed, mass effect. all the big games that were on other consoles were on wii and wii u
