I see what she's getting at, but I disagree. In her pointing out to Baldwin that she demands the best of him as a/her man and deserves to be lied to, she implicitly gives validity to the idea of capitalist skewing toward money as the end goal to everything.
"Relationships" are now data driven and commoditized.
Useful fools are everywhere yelling STEM! STEM! STEM! like the parrots they are, but think it's right and normal that they cannot communicate nor reason effectively...as long as they're getting paid.
And on, and on, and on.
When money is your god, all manner of folly becomes possible.
Whoever we are, whoever we are to be...family, friends, lovers, community, whatever...it cannot be built on a lie. As a thing begins, so does it go(barring some severe catalyst...another topic). If all you have is pretense then you are destined for failure no matter how much you try to postpone the judgment.
