so for those that think curry is better than magic, they also must believe curry is a top 10 player, which is laughable to say the least

If Steph ends up with 4 or 5 rings, he's gonna be top 10 whether some like it or not :yeshrug:

But it's damn near impossible to pass up Magic.

shyt a ring in a few weeks pretty much cements him as number 2 :yeshrug:

Why do y'all dudes keep repeating this nonsense? He doesn't need a FMVP, he just needs to play great. Let me put this to you:

Curry performs above-average in the Finals, and the rest of his teammates don't perform as well as he did, and he wins MVP
Curry performs on all-time great level in the Finals, but Durant or Klay perform slightly better, and he doesn't win MVP

Which performance should be valued higher?
Breh it’s about perception and narrative, whether they be true or not

To answer your question first. The second option should be valued. Key words here is “should be” not that it automatically will

Take Lebron for example, up untill recently He was considered passive aggressive, even though he had games to kind of disprove that narrative, and came back from a 3-1 lead. A lot of people considered him “the frozen one” a narrative he had to fight to
Remove. Hell he was happy somebody said he was “clutch” his whole career

He had to fight tooth and nail for years to erase that perception.
In the case of Steph, the narrative is, he choked a 3-1 lead and needed Durant. As long as Durant keeps winning all the FMVPS and remain the best player, steph can never fully get credit. How many people take away credit from Kobe because Shaq was the best player on those lakers teams? What happended when Kyrie wasn’t getting the credit he deserved for his 2016 finals performance cause it was all about Lebrons legacy?

Sometimes it isn’t about stats, truth or lies. It’s about perception. I’m a steph fan and think he’s already in the top 10 PG list, even higher, but he needs to be the best player in the finals to really be considered for the GOAT PG. can’t be riding on Durant to that title cause Magic didn’t do it for Kareem, magic won 3 of them bytches.

Kobe was young when Shaq was winning those FMVPS but that’s used aganist him till this day.
Your lying to yourself if you think being the best player in the finals a couple of times wouldn’t help his case for GOAT along with the all time great shooting/seasons he’s having and will continue to have

At this point the only box left to check is longevity and he’s close to that too. He’s already got 9 seasons to his name and he’s played 90% of the games or more in 7 of them with 6 straight trips to the postseason and advancing past the opening round in 5 of them. Honestly there isn’t much more he can do besides rack up 1-2 finals mvp awards.

And MVP isn't a narrative-based award? I just explained why Isiah doesn't have one despite having the Pistons as the best team in the league for 4 years straight, the media hated him and so did other players around the league

In what year was zeke suppose to get the mvp over Mj,magic, bird, and Moses:coffee:

Peak Curry(2016) is the best PG to play the game. :manny:

90s ball stans can cry all they want but that 3rd ring is gonna easily put him at #2. He has the individual stats and team success to go along with it. Only Magic will have a better resume. And he'll be contending for rings for the next 2-3 years so the resume will only continue to get better. :manny:

MJ
Magic
LeBron
Shaq
Kobe
Bird
Duncan
Durant
Kareem
Hakeem

who can he realisically surpass on this list? dude has really only had 3-4 seasons of elite play and everybody on this list has multiple finals mvp's. steph realistically cant win finals mvp with durant on the team imo

Players 30 years later have more expansive skillsets, you dont say? :ohhh:

You think I would fall for such a silly set up? Thats all u got Gil? :russ:

:umad:
So you admit that Curry has a better skillset, but you won't entertain the idea of Curry ever surpassing him?

:heh:
Once again given his era, Magic won more in a more competitive league at the top and accomplished more individually in terms of accolades and eye test

:umad:
The problem with viewing the game like this is, you can't use relative terms like "won more in a more competitive league" and "accomplished more individually", given the era, and push skillset, ability, and impact outside of the frame. You're basically saying I'll use these terms and compare their respective states, but I'm not going to use those terms and compare their respective states, when they're one and the same. You're further muddying the waters when you're handicapping every single succeeding era that goes by (which speaks to your agenda against "analytics"), and painting past eras with the brush of nostalgia.

Either you include everything when comparing players (across eras), or you stick to ranking players within their era only - you can't pick and choose what measurements you want to use, just to appease your basketball palate.

lol at Bill Russell or Wilt not on that list. :skip:

But with Steph, he's 2 time MVP. Gonna end up 4/5 rings breh. The 3rd is all but guaranteed.

Only Earvin, Mike, Kareem, Bird, and Timmy have that (multiple MVPs and rings).

Hard not to be in the top 10 with that especially being the GOAT shooter. :francis:

86-87 magic is up there. from a stats standpoint, westbrook is 17 was probably the goat season for a PG

89 was Isiah's MVP sorry but I'm dying on that hill :manny:

Pistons had 60 wins that year and were the only team to do so and Isiah was the best player having played every single game that season

:martin: the Media gave it to Magic because Isiah's image was tarnished by the bad boys and Magic had better stats even though Zeke was in a system where he had to share touches with Dumars and Vinnie Johnson

:jawalrus: Pistons ended up sweeping the Lakers in the Finals though and it turns out Zeke letting Vinnie and Joe eat and not put his body at risk was the right call as Magic overworked himself and pulled his hamstring in Game 2 while Joe collected that FMVP :sas1:

You could also make a case for 1990, although less of one :heh:

Curry not having FMVP is not important, especially when it was obvious to anyone who watchew that Steph should have gotten it and not Iggy.
