i think we're being a bit dishonest here. Especially as it pertains to younger generations

With all due respect, there's not really a "we" here. I'm speaking from my own personal experience as a Nigerian born in Nigeria. if you have seen different, feel free to speak from your own.

If there is any jealously, it would be in the false perception that some Nigerians hold of how easy black Americans have it and how everyone in America caters to black Americans (which is complete bullshyt but they believe it nonetheless)

Man you have no idea how true the bold is for some Nigerians...
I'm not in here to rag on my people (i will always love my people)... but if there is one thing that needs to stop.. its the bolded.

I swear growing up I though the only Doctors, Lawyers, and Engineers in the entire world all came from my village :dwillhuh:

Hopefully its better now with the younger generations. I'm gonna do my part when raising the next generation. This dumb shyt gotta stop with us

It is just very strange. It is like people are brainwashed or some shyt into thinking that African Americans are only athletes, rappers, drug dealers or broke nikkas.

The stupidest part is that there are millions of African Americans that were none of those things. Millions of African Americans grew up in middle class and upper middle class homes through out the USA. We come from mixtures of blue collar and white collar families with strong connections to the South and our families down there. Most African Americans did not even know what the Hell a ghetto was until their families moved to the North for jobs back in the 1950s and it was the federal government that forced Black people into those properties due to segregation. That hood shyt today was an extension of that bullshyt, but most African American families fled from that shyt as soon as neighborhoods and schools were desegregated.

The media has done a poor job in painting Black Americans worldwide. You either get the super successful Black American, or the Black American that has been a f*ck up. For the most part, the world gets the Black American that has f*cked up. They get that, and it has painted the Black American in a bad light worldwide.

As for this topic, Black History month is a Black American history month. I take offense to when white folks try to wipe it away, but I also take offense to when those not native to this country try to wipe it away.

@Gold thanks for sharing your perspective.
