boy, Buhari is all time woat

I wonder if Nigerians are crying for Goodluck now

I disliked Goodluck's tenure only because the stealing was rampant and I don't think he pushed some very critical legislative reform. But one thing he did was put people who knew what they were doing in the right places

e.g. Iweala as Finance Minister and Coordinator of the Economy. He did mess up with that Diezani appointment.

Atiku is a thief but I believe he'll at least want to grow the Nigerian economy so he can steal in larger amounts.

Goodness. Nigeria is really just picking the lesser of two evils. Imagine saying you'd prefer a president that's a known crook on belief that he'd make the national pot at least larger even if he was gonna steal from said pot :snoop:

True! Foreigners see Kigali and think its Rwanda! My dude leave the city and travel thirty k outside. You'll find shoeless Hutus living hand to mouth. Even Africans wonder how these nikkas survive?!
In fact the past year they've been fleeing-to that 5th world paradise called Uganda. Why??
Bruh i went around the country. Poverty is rampant around the continent. You still cant discredit ORDER which is missing in most nations

Gore conceded , when in actuality he would have been president if he kept fighting.

Gore did exactly what The Odum of Ala Igbo suggested that the current leader of Nigeria do. Think of the greater good.

Buhari is going to let governors like Tinubu and Akpabio steal the election for him. Chai, chai, chai - Buhari is playing with fire? No wonder Igboland is full of soldiers and police but area boys and trashing polling units in Lagos!

How are they being treated?

After the RPF took over in 1994, they killed thousands of Hutu peasants to coerce obedience from them. The 1 million Hutus who fled to the Congo were slowly murdered over 10 years as revenge for the 1994 genocide. The ones who were returned to RPF-led government after the genocide were terrorized and killed to gain intel on the interhamwe.

Any man who defends Kagame in this life will defend Kagame to his 5 million Congolese victims on judgement day.

Not gonna derail this thread but nobody is defending anyone. Acknowledging development is NOT taking a moral stance on the path there.

Like I said I’ve been around the country and the rural areas are still in better shape than the rural areas of nations with so called higher GPD. Very minimal low level corruption too meanwhile in West Africa you cant even drive around most places without being shaken down for money.

Buhari must be a Western approved leader because there is NO coverage of this on the platforms that I follow.

How have the last 3 transfers of power gone? By that I'm trying to figure how normal this is?

I know Nigerians in real life, but topic of politics rarely comes up.
Last Nigerian president I know much about was the one who looked like the singer Keb Mo.

Goodluck Jonathan.

You need to be organized and have good leadership, which is probably why Ghana gained it's independence first.

the northern nigerian political leaders were opposed to nigeria getting its independence in 1956 -- which would have been one year before ghana got its independence

nigeria effectively already had self governance years before it officially got its independence in 1960

a motion was moved in 1953 for nigeria to get independence in 1956 but northern nigerian politicians were against it

the reason they were opposed is because they feared complete domination by the more educated southerners

this was a legitimate fear for them to have

it was actually justified that they felt this way and feared domination by the southerners

because they were far behind the southerners in everything -- a situation that remains true to this day

but the fact is that their opposition did delay nigerian independence

nigeria could have easily got its independence slightly before ghana

but as with so many things the cause of nigeria being behind other countries was once again the north

i agree with most of everything else you said though -- including the part about it being possible for ghana to be a superpower someday, if they get their act together

With all due respect to the lives lost, what's happening is more a function of democracy not being suited for every country, than who the current leader is, his ethnic or political background.

the background of individual leaders is very relevant

goodluck jonathan is a mild mannered civil servant and politician and an educated man

buhari is a military strongman from a nomadic background (nomadic living is the opposite of civilised life), a former dictator, was prone to making inflammatory comments even before becoming president, and his educational background is questionable

its not that surprising that goodluck jonathan could concede peacefully

while buhari may refuse to concede if he loses this already shambolic election

because they are fundamentally just very different kinds of people
