Well, there is the issue of “quality” of education. A “Doctor” in Nigeria does not make a Doctor in the States. There are some medical programs in Nigeria that are just all “theory” with no “hands on” clinical/residency component.
I know a few Nigerians that were Doctors back home but are working as CNAs here because the quality of their education is just not comparable.
Which would infer that, in terms of quantity, there may be many “educated” Nigerians on paper, but the qualitative aspects of that education would be questionable. And this is not a knock on Nigerian intelligence, obviously, but moreso on access to high quality educational resources.
And with Nigerian intelligence the way that it is, Nigeria should be home to some of the greatest universities on the continent, and competitors to HYP, Oxbridge, or the Sorbonne.
