While I was typing this, I remember the conclusion I came to, and that is, this is a black folks problem. I'm not even going to just shyt on Nigeria.
The fact of the matter, black folks be on some real survival of the fittest shyt. We have wealthy blacks in this country, who are making MILLIONS from non-sports/entertainment industries, and most black people don't know anything about them. They want it that way, too. Trust me, I move in some interesting circles, and have been privy to some conversations that made me realize that, that crab in the barrel thing works more than one way.
I'm doing very damn well for myself, but money don't make me who I am. This is why I don't feel the need to shyt on poor black people, and look down my nose at them. However, a lot of black folks who 'made it' damn sure wan't to see black people stay at the bottom economically, 'cause the more black people come up, the less special they feel.
Of COURSE I'm not talking about all wealthy blacks, but a lot of well off blacks look at the black have-nots VERY similarly to racist CACs. From about age 22 up until age 29, I was only interested in dating these highly educated sistas - and that is how I came to know about the so-called black elite first hand.
The last sister I tried to fukk with turned me completely off because she asked me, 'Have you ever been to Aspen? Or do you just take a cruise to Caribbean, thinking you've done something special?" She went on to talk about how black folks are afraid to ski and swim, and that that aversion to risk correlates to why black folks do not succeed. We went at it that night. But, yeah ... those thoughts are very common.
