Im 2 hours in. Combat is similar to Automata. Combat n controls was my biggest issue with the original Nier.
I mean I loved the OG nier when I played it a decade or so ago. but I'd be lying if it isn't an acquired taste completely carried by its story and music, both of which are amazing. I'm probs not copping this till its on sale sale

Supposedly (going by the Polygon review) it gets way better about 10 hours in - Nier Replicant is a brilliant game with one big catch
I'll probably start it a little later. Looking forward to it, but I do realize it's a remaster of a 10 year old game so I'll be realistic

reviewers are dikk riders in every direction and people who called the previous game a top x anything have always been stretching it...
the atmosphere just ain't close to the previous one and any small steps up in gameplay don't really supplant the difference

Automata Story wise, music wise, gameplay wise (although open world gets a bit repetitive) it was a solid 8.5 to me. Very creative, fresh, and fun gaming experience. IF someone said it was one of their favorite games from last gen i wouldn’t hold them

I pretty much bought this just off the strength of Automata. Was the first Nier game I've played and I thought it was an experience. And I know it'll be a minute before we get a real sequel.

Interested in the @Gizmo_Duck review. I know it sounds weird but we seem to like the same jrpgs. My frenemy also the most in tune with my tastes when it comes to this genre
