That old UT money let the team slip in the 80s and most of the 90s and will do it again. They are about being buddy buddy above being winning. This is the difference between UT and schools like Alabama or even OU. They care about winning. UT big donors want to be friends with the coach. That's why we'll never have a black coach.

lots of boosters don't contribute to a school's endowment. They directly give their bread to the Athletic Association.
