NBC only offered $100M per year
I don't know but losing the BPL would be a killer for them. That said, the MLS want all four to get a large piece. The NBA might as well.NBC Sports looking now.
Sounds like they're broke
This was proven wrong by Marchand and other sports media reporters. CBS had no interest in NHL at all. The only scenario I can see this being true if Turner buys time to air SCF but like SportsNet does in Canada for CBC to air SCF or how ESPN airs events on ABC.
They been having it on NBCSN and NBC....
Looks like it'll be ABC, TNT, ABC, TNT, ABC, TNT, ABC after this year.
They had it on NBCSN simply because it didn't draw well enough to justify having it on the main network. They would air SVU reruns over the Final.
WWE Smackdown gets $205 million a year from FOX for one show a week. The NHL is getting $20 million more a year for 3 to 4 games per week. How is Gary Bettman still commissioner of this league?
The NHL was getting $200M a year from NBC to be the exclusive network for the last 10 years.
They are now getting $400M from Disney (ABC/ESPN) and $225M from WarnerMedia's Turner Sports (TNT/TBS) over the next 7 years.... $625M or so per year combined. Bettman before the pandemic thought the next TV deal would get him $750M per year.
Also, WWE is getting $200M per year from NBC for the next 5 years.
It's only $20 million per team a year. That's jack shyt when you look at what the NBA gets.
Mad different...
NBA is getting $2.6 billion a year from Disney ($1.4 billion) and TNT ($1.2 billion).
NHL deal is comparable to the one the NBA signed with Disney and TNT in like 2008.
