The teams that win the Super Bowl either have everything clicking in January, offense/defense, injury free etc. OR they win because they have the best QB. 49ers haven't had anyone that's close to being the best QB and they have the worst injury history over the last 5 years of every other playoff team.

Rams had everything clicking a couple years ago and Stafford was better than Jimmy G. That might have been the 49ers best chance.

Other than that, the Super Bowl winners have been Brady and Mahomes. :mjlol: 2x for each of them.

And you know what? If you asked me today who I think is winning the Super Bowl, I would probably still say the Chiefs even after they lost to the Broncos and Mahomes leads the league in INTs. Because I know come January you can rely on him to be steadier than everyone else.

Brady won once since 2019. 2020. He's taking about 2019 to 2022. The 9ers weren't good in 2018 when New England won.

In all reality I thought the Jets should be thrilled if a Healthy Aaron Rodgers gets them to 5-3 in the 8 games of the season. The Jets are 4-3 right now and even if they lose most fans would take 4 and 4 all day long. 9 wins in the AFC probably gets you a wild card.

That was a scout team offensive line that played today. Al Wood tearing his achilles is going to hurt the run defense

The issue with Purdy is that he can operate the offense when everything is going well. When he needs to go off script and actually win a game that’s when he gets exposed.
That's literally just Jimmy G though :russ:
49'ers in the same spot they've been for years
Adequate QB but if they fall behind and need a guy who can actually make plays to bring them back they are fukked

Mahomes can look like Josh Allen a lot when you take away Kelce. He has bad habits. You saw it in that Bengals 2021 AFC title game, 2022 Super Bowl, etc.

Mahomes is a great QB... but again, he's not THAT much better than Allen and Herbert.

Having good lines and Kelce has protected him.

So if you take Kelce away from Mahomes, then he looks the way Josh Allen does WITH Diggs, or Hebert WITH Allen or Burrow WITH Chase? :dahell:

All the QBs you listed are reliant on their O-Line nad have a big name target to protect them.

Why doesnt he? His WR core is so trash that they traded back for one of their former receivers…from a team with an even worse receiving core in the Jets. If the Jets who WR room is trash can give up on a WR, what does that tell you about the Chiefs core?

I preface all of this by saying I agree that the Chiefs need to get better at receiver.

I don't think he should get this pass because he's a 2-time MVP, 2-time SB Champion and 2-time SB MVP. He is the consensus best QB in the game and already considered by some to be the best of his era. By all accounts, Patrick Mahomes is THE Franchise QB of today's NFL. He just won a MVP with Juju Smith-Schuster as his best non-Kelce pass catcher and we see what Juju is and has been since Antonio Brown got the sense knocked out of him by Vontaze Burfict.

While I despise the "Franchise QB" title because what it really means is that the front office will use that as an excuse to skimp on talent around that person because said QB has proven they can make it work without a particularly strong supporting cast, the fact of the matter is that if Mahomes is what we all believe he is, when his head coach/playcaller is considered one of the great offensive minds the game has ever seen, they SHOULD be able to make this work. He should be elevating the talent around him like Brady, Brees, etc. did.

If Carson Wentz can put together a season where he throws for 4000 yards, 27 TD and just 7 INT without ONE wide receiver that had at least 500 yards receiving -- he did this the same year Mahomes won his first Super Bowl -- I REFUSE to believe Patrick Mahomes can't elevate people around him if he's the dominant player we all know he is.

Is it a fair expectation? I can't say it is, but this is what comes with the territory of being the standard for QB play in the NFL.

I was referring to how people view Josh Allen as a good but heavily turnover prone QB.

And that when Kelce isn't left wide open (something other QBs don't always have), he looks no better

He is though, especially compared to Mahomes. He's a top QB but it's fair to criticize him.

Allen career INT % 2.4%
Mahomes career INT % 1.7%

Even this year when they say "Mahomes leads the league in INTs" it comes with the extra note that Josh Allen has the same amount of INTs.

It's one game in the regular season relax buddy.

It is one game.

It is one game where Patrick Mahomes, who had never lost a road divisional game until today, led the Kansas City Chiefs to NINE points on the worst defense in the league -- the same team that the Chiefs had won 12 straight against.

He played below his expectations and previously established standard.
