The “Lions are the best team in the NFC” narrative didn’t even last a week
They’re a good team but they’re not on the Eagles/49ers level yet
Yeah, I won't be considering the idea of that, let alone the NFL, for a minute. I'll own that L take
That said, I don't think they are that far away. They had their worst game against a team at home whose passing offense finally looked the way it was supposed to look following early-season hiccups. Detroit's still a strong team in the NFC and I expect them to advance past the Wild Card round but no further.
As for what I've learned:
Good QB play is a real premium now. There's only a couple of cats who are really out here playing the position well. Everybody else is eh or underachieving when you take their supporting cast into account.
While I understand why Richardson played, I wonder where the Colts would be if Minshew was the day 1 starter meant to hold it down for the duration of Richardson's rookie year. I liked what I saw from them against Cleveland.
49ers still legit, but maybe people will pump the brakes on Purdy being him commentary. He needs the full cupboard just like most every other QB in the league.
Trust me, i know what i see in a team. These nikkas are the new Packers. Either one and done or divisional round loss.
For the Lions, getting to the playoffs would be considered a success/exceeding of gen pop's expectations.
The Packers were expected to get further than they usually did because of who their QB was.
They can't be the new Packers until people outside of the Lions' locker room actually put expectations on them.
