Zone his ass up! Lots of Cover 2, 3 and 4....

I actually like this style of ball. I miss the days where the run set up the pass. You had a few big time throwers, but it was mostly a run-first philosophy with an emphasis on a strong defense as well...

You got these high priced QBs and WRs now, but soon, we'll be pining for solid ball control running backs. Then it'll go back to a more wide open game after that...it's cyclical.

So i follow and read his stuff, (Cody Alexander)

Defense has taken a new look to slow a lot of offenses down, lighter defenders who can stop the run but cover, split field coverages, man match, pattern match. But then you got Vic in KC hitting mf with cover 1 and then switching it up saying my front 7 will get the pressure and you can’t beat my coverage

Vic in KC? Who? Vic Fangio?

Do you mean Spagnuolo?

one thing that will never change is winning in the trenches. defenses have certainly adapted with taking away the downfield explosive plays and changing their personnel to include more Nickel/DB packages and less LBs. being able to adjust at the LOS is more important that ever too because defenses are able to hide their schemes better than ever in these sets, thats why you see SF/Miami run so much pre-snap motion to figure out where they can attack a soft spots and find optimal matchups.

interior OL play is becoming super important again - look at the contracts from this past offseason. defenses are finding ways to generate pressure up the middle and its ruining offense. look no further than my Bears the first two weeks of the season. the pressure used to come mostly from the edge, thats not the case anymore

overall, IMO, its more important than ever to have an elite OL (and not just at the T positions). the teams that will succeed are the ones that can run the ball effectively to loosen up defenses and their pass coverages. and teams that can protect their QBs against 4-5 man rushes and find the holes in these soft zone coverages

My concern is why do so many teams have such TRASH offensive lines. That’s the real issue. And the lines are trash for multiple years at a time. Take the dolphins - they last time they actually had a decent o line was when the had the bullying scandal. Are linemen that hard to find or is it the coaching?

Bears Panthers. Have the bengals even fixed their line issues?
The spread revolution killed o-line development

Everything is in cycles. RBs will be in demand soon

I'd argue it's already happened. Look at the final four teams in the playoffs last year: KC, Baltimore, Detroit, and SF all had great run games and/or great RBs. CMC, Montgomery, Gibbs...those guys especially.

Across multiple games this week you could see how safeties were giving QBs fits. LBs are becoming more and more important too, specifically these fast dudes who can cover.

It’s borrowing Jim’s philosophy while at Michigan, good iol play to move up and harass smaller lbs, like i said a while back most lbs are 220-230 240 is a rare thing
