WWE gets higher tv ratings than the nba. Is pro wrestling bigger than basketball?

It's still largely being supported by the old guard of fans. The younger generation doesn't care about MLB.

The Tigers are top dog in the city of Detroit. Miguel Cabrera & Justin Verlander are far bigger stars than Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe. Can't do that if only 50+ watches baseball.

Harris Poll: NFL Remains King Among U.S. Adults, But Gap With Baseball Closer
Published January 28, 2015

Pro football kept its large lead as the favorite sport among U.S. adults in '14, but its separation from No. 2-ranked baseball is the closest it has been in five years, according to results of an annual study from Harris Poll. Around 32% of U.S. adults said pro football was their favorite sport during a December study, down three percentage points from last year. Meanwhile, baseball registered at 16% of U.S. adults, up two points. College football, ranked No. 3, saw a slight decline. Men’s soccer, no doubt benefitting from the interest around the ’14 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, saw the biggest jump among all sports, up 4% for a tie with men’s pro basketball and ice hockey. Men’s soccer saw a similar jump around the ’10 World Cup and fell back down sharply the following year. Women’s soccer was the only female sport to register on this year’s study. Women’s college and pro basketball, as well as golf, each registered below 0.5% of U.S. adults (Harris Poll).

NOTES: Percentages may not add to up to 100% due to rounding. The Harris Poll was conducted online in the U.S. between Dec. 10-15, 2014 among 2,255 adults aged 18+. * = Less than 0.5% of respondents indicated as their favorite sport.

This survey is telling half truths. We all as adults with functioning brains no that in the US that it's in this order. NFL CFB NBA and the other ones. I bet the NFL draft gets better ratings then NASCAR. shyt Lebron is more popular himself then NASCAR and NHL.

LeBron had more Google searches in Missouri but I guarantee you there are more people invested in players likeVladimir Tarasenko or Adam Wainwright here than him.

The poll surveyed 2,255 adults

:laff::laff:

That's more than a high enough sample. Even 1500 people is enough to get a representative view of American's opinion. The statistics are believable too. Most Americans are cacs. Cac Americans like football most of all, with all its pageantry and patriotism and physicality. Then baseball, with its history, traditionalism and players. Then white sports, then the NBA.

NBA is global.. the rest of those sports are not. Atleast not in the sense that the NBA is.

Also, IIRC NBA draws the 2nd highest ratings in USA behind the NFL.. and that's probably because the NFL season is so short while the NBA viewers are spread out over 9 months of fukkery.

NBA is 2nd as a sport but probably 3rd behind EPL & La Liga as a sports league but its not as much global as you think...pockets in South America and Europe and China...but alot of the world doesnt know or care about the NBA...its not going to catch soccer anytime in the next 100 years...

The goal is not to catch soccer, that's an impossibility, it however will be the second most popular sport in the world soon if it isn't already.

The world is starting to care about the NBA, hence a dude from the slums of Brazil being on your team :wow: Basketball is a global sport, it's on every continent on the planet, even Antarctica -

im surprised Nascar isnt number one to be honest....seems like every car in the south has a number on it to rep their driver.

I dont know many people that watch the NBA outside of Celtics games until the playoffs. Im pretty certain NBA is above MLB tho on the national level. The ratings of the world series are a direct result of who is in the WS. Its a far less star driven league, but the yankees or redsox, or dodgers are in it, of course they will draw better than the royals and the giants(who have been in it 3 of 5 years) Everyone watches the NFL, most men watch 2 games atleast on the weekend. Plus one on Monday. And of course, no matter who is in the super bowl, everyone watches it.
