Im typing on my phone.
I wasnt making a broad accusation like you.
Seems like you made a lazy Google search to support your generalization. Any organization/charity/association that receives money can be painted as a "scam".
Even if the NFL only donates 5% thats more money than the Charity was receiving before the NFL license deal.
The NFL is a huge marketplace and even if the contribution is only "5%", being branded on NFL only increases awareness to the cause which is just as important as money.
Sir, I did no such thing. I read that article a while ago.
And a lot of these organizations do not actually give money to cancer research, treatment, or coping (like a few charities in that article that you did not seem to have read, but I could be wrong apologies if I am wrong and you did). The money they get from the charities just go to lining the pockets of the EDs, and others in the senior staff. The other hustle is cronyism, by hiring themselves, family or friends firms to help with promotions and development. These organizations do not have to disclose the destination of the money they receive, which leads to them being able to do what they want with the money.
As for the NFL, the reason why people have an issue with this "pink" hustle is that they do not have to do this. Breast Cancer is the
#1 financial cause in this country, by a lot. They get federal money for research and they get billions in donations each year. That is billions with a B. We all are aware of breast cancer and have been for some time, yet the NFL felt the need to promote and sell the pink gear and collect most of the coin from it, while giving little to research, so miss me with the "increasing awareness." Its like saying ESPN should do more to raise the awareness of the NFL in America, that is the equivalent of "raising awareness" to the issue of breast cancer.
If the NFL just said each year they were giving 10 million dollars to Breast Cancer, no one would have any issue. If they had a charity drive saying, "the NFL wants to raise $10 million for breast cancer research this month," no one would have an issue because its a great cause and they are giving it attention. The fact they are using the money that is raised from these products and collecting most of it is insidious because its not their money, but instead the consumer who is paying for this, and they are clouding it around "pink NFL gear" that they are selling. Its disgusting and a scam, and a sham and Goodell and co deserve all the negative publicity that has come out so far.
