nikkas is buggin..the only reason the Tomb Raider game looks any different from the PC version is cause they remodeled Lara's face and added some extra particle effects n trees n shyt like that...just cause Square-Enix decided to update THEIR game doesn't mean they doin some "next gen" shyt that ain't been done on PC before this gen..lol..

I never said there was any special shyt that hasn't been done on pc's. I simply said that resolution is not everything.

Most of the pictures in this thread do not look better than games like Ryse, Killzone, or even dead rising 3.

For example. My wife who doesn't know anything about platforms, resolutions, framerates or anything else said that Assasin creed 4 is by far the worst looking game I have even though its running at a higher resolution than the other games.

Killzone looks good, but it's not very complex graphically (at least when compared to Crysis, etc.). I really don't like Killzone though :manny: (it's the only PS4 game I have and it's not really fun :to: I already had AC:BF on the PC, but I woulda got that on the PS4 too if it was my only gaming platform [I love that game]).

Edit: I also have Flower and Resogun, but those don't really count and aren't very impressive graphically

breh not to get into the pc vs "nextgen" debate but @daze23 arma 3 pictures look better than any game on the ps4/xb1 right now. the details alone blow out any screen shot you can post of your favorite game. let's all just :cook: and post up screenshots of the games we're playing :handshake:

I told him to make a PS4/XB1 screenshot thread because there will always be much more games on PC with varying configs showing off the graphics compared to the slim offerings on the consoles right now.

Anyway a couple Max Payne 3 shots.

Well it does actually, buzzwords aside I'm certain you get my point.
*I never stated the Wii U wasn't next gen :ld: and I have no idea why it was brought up
When I say "Next Gen" mind you, I'm not talking about hardware, I'm talking about sofware.
The rendering technology changed a great deal between Cry Engine 2 and Cry Engine 3 for example.
The move from a Forward Rendering Engine to a Deferred Solution is THE reason
Crysis is even on console.
The move from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4 focuses on certain features that are only possibly
in software because of faster hardware, core parts of the engine have been rewritten because of this like
the way they handle particles and materials for example.
The same goes for Frostbite and the transition from 2 to 3, whole chunks
of the engine were rewritten to accommodate the change expected for the next
generation of consoles and what can be done to improve games going forward.

They don't just add on numbers to these game engines for the sake of it.

Are you sure that you know what I mean ? Cause you wouldn't just brush it off if you did.
Having physics based animations at run time that aren't canned animations that some animator
did is ONE example of "next generation" and it's actually pretty damn cool.
We see it games on current/last gen consoles but they were restricted to a few characters at a time
now you can run it on every character on screen and you won't take a significant hit to performance
Another example is The Last Of Us vs Ryse.
In Ryse they have access to significantly more ram so they can run
more blendshapes which allows them to hold more static facial poses in memory
to bend in with the normal animations allowing for more extreme poses in facial
geometry.
The last of us could only hold a few in the game at any given time due to 512mb limit,
in Ryse they didn't have to worry about such a thing.

I think I realized I was wasting my time when I tried to explain WHY, no one really cares about WHY they just want to post really nice screenshots :drakehe:
Son I know EXACTLY what u talkin bout..I deal with this shyt every single day bro.. I just feel like this whole discussion is pointless considering it has nothng to do with what I was saying..Ur talking like someone who's is not an actual PC gamer and doesn't invest time into playing these games..unless I'm mistaken..how many PC games have u played last year fam?..

He said this :
No they wouldn't. Resolution isn't everything
In response to this :
It is. These PC screens would qualify as next gen if they were from a PS4/XB1 game.
You said this and I quote :
:what: u serious?..There's literally no console game that looks as good texture wise..resolution wise..etc etc than some of the best PC games and ur losin it if u think otherwise..actin like resolution is the only thing extra PC has to offer..

When you target a specific generation of graphics cards you
write your game within those limits. This is why I stated
and continue to state most of these games are written with
Ps3/360 in mind. PC just runs them in higher resolutions,
with more effects thrown on while the source material
is largely the same.
Assassin's Creed has all the same art on every platform.
In this case, PC just gets the chance to run a console game at higher resolution.
The same goes for Dark Souls and other console games ported to PC with screen shots
in this thread.
I've been saying the same thing, the whole time.
If the rendering engine, particle engine etc. is all the same, then it isn't "next gen".
Doom 3 doesn't suddenly become "next gen" because it's being rendered at a higher resolution
it's engine did however become more modern in the BFG edition which was written
to take advantage of multicore set ups.

Short and sweet answer : PC Is rendering the same things
much faster and at much higher resolutions. Barring games
that are written specifically for PC, then the discussion changes.

stop arguing and post screen shots.
I agree. From here on out I'll be trying to stick to the topic
