White people are strange breh..why the fukk u wanna live in Bk for if u hate black people this much?
I've seen some really revealing and disgustingly racist attitudes from these so called "liberal" "progressive" whatever type hipster white interlocking transplants that move to black neighborhoods here in Brooklyn like Crown Heights, Bedford Stuyvesant....even East New York (I'd bet you'd never hear read or see that huh?)

I'm talking about them consistently avoiding the black neighbors there...getting scared of them...calling the cops on them.

So much about them caring about diversity and being in a community. They care about cheap rents cause they're probably going to be hanging out in williamsburg, bushwick, greenpoint, or in the city anyways. They're just as racist as their parents that fled the same neighborhoods because of black peoplw.

I was in Bed Stuy recently and I couldn't believe my eyes at how white it's becoming. My Aunt told me that this has been going for a minute. Even Prospect Park is filled with hipsters now and it was hardly like that when I was growing up. Hell, even Harlem is getting gentrified. Before you know it, they'll be in my old hood soon too.

Not True. Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, Miami, San Francisco, Oakland, and other cities are having this same thing occur in their inner cities.

Type in "City Name" + "Gentrification"
Gentrification is a worldwide epidemic. It's happening in Toronto, London, Paris...etc.

Again...I blame millenials.

Yeah man. All around BK, specifically in Gentrified areas the new residents have made it increasingly difficult to have block parties. You have to notify the police community affairs division by May 26th I beleive to have one and it can be no later than the end of July. The amount of permits you must have plus insurance if you have entertainment for kids plus vending is ridiculous/
But I guess if it was some quirky hipster block party with nu-disco djs, artifical vegan food, diy art, and nobody darker than a brown paper bag there...it would be alright.

East NY and other areas as such are tricky because the new developments have to be able to have a demand to support the high rents. I wouldnt be so gung ho on out there being gentrified just yet. Transportation to Manhattan and other areas are key and although ENY has some trains, the distance to the city is far too great for anything to occur too quickly out there. I think of the speculation when it comes to those areas as classic ponzi "pump and dump" schemes. Get enough people to think out there is next, people begin a buying frenzy and then the bottom falls out.
Disagree.

Broadway Junction which connects the jmz the L train and the a and c train are out there. Also...there's the Atlantic Ave L train station. Anywhere the L train is is future hipster breeding grounds cause it connects from Bushwick to Williamsburg to the lower east side of manhattan.

I've heard the same thing said......literally have heard young 20-something white people say this outright, in a laughingly non-chalant way, like they know the gentrification formula....:dwillhuh:..gays, then the artsy types and it won't be long till the white chick jogging down the street with her dog is on the way...

So much for Jews being "gods chosen people"....smh.

There's nothing godly about them...

Why down south though? Some of us don't want to live around goddamn racist white people hanging confederate flags anywhere and everywhere....

Like I'll just say it...maybe a certain type of black person would enjoy the south but for me...I just don't see it. I moved here to nyc because of the diversity and the fact that there were more Africans and west Indians here alongside African Americans. I couldn't adjust to the culture there....I'd just would rather move somewhere outside of America instead of trying to give this place too many more chances.

Why not the south? Cost of living is lower and it would be easier for blacks to build down there.

If you haven't been paying attention.. every state in this nations union is racist. Atleast the shyt in the south is upfront. Ultimately it's whatever tho. :yeshrug:
A whole lot of black folk are going to remain outside of the south. They had better have some money.

Not living in the south, brah.

Don't have any connection to the people there.

The politics and law are a mess which could have a thread of its own.

the racism isn't the same there's no at least they're upfront about it. are you white?

That's cool man, I ain't telling you what to do with your life. I just don't think AA's have a future in mass outside of the south.

The racism is overt in the south and covert in the north, that's really the only difference. And I'm black.

That's all true but if they do all this building they set out to in ENY are they going to be able to operate the mta on the scale necessary to support the development?
The last 3 years I've lived more or less in the same spot and can take the 3 or the A or and each year the trains become more infrequent and more packed.
I've heard this is because peoples work schedules have changed in recent years and I've also read that the cities population has hit the point they projected we would be at 5-10 years from now.

The MTA is constantly demanding more funding and raising rates to play catch up, I'm worried we're setting ourselves up for disaster.

Honestly, they probably wouldn't be able to meet increased demand. Last I checked, the 3 and L are already maxed out during rush hours in terms of the number of trains running. I don't know about the A, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's maxed out too.

As for the fare constantly going up, Albany deserves a good share of the blame for that.
