@360dagod You named a couple of artist, I'm talking about hip hop. Who are the hottest producers? Who got the illest rhymestyles? Who got the illest dresscode? where the hottest spots to get some ladies? What's the top heads driving? What's the topics that are rhymed about that describe the city?
Until all those things can be answered, and the whole city agree, aint shyt happening. All you got are rappers who are doing good from nyc
Yeah, those artists you named are gone, but ATL is still repping ATL, thats what its about not the rapper, they come & go. It's about being true to YOUR experience, and your interpretation of it. I'm not hating on nyc, just an old head critiquing my family, I want yall lil nikkas to win! I experienced hip hop as a fan, and living it, its a feeling that is hard to describe, but nyc is lacking it right now. All I see is rappers trying to be hip hop, and they think being criminal is it when that just come with it being hip hop is street music, but it doesn't have to be like that, this is still music, so you need more then that!
Hip Hop is about being aggressive, while still being creative. Being a strong man, while allowing your soft side to show. Its allowing these two opposites to be expressed through you, that makes hip hop special. In other cultures a man who dresses fly is soft or gay, not hip hop. its the same with being introspective. Hip hop allows you to be, and enforces, intelligent, aggressive, humble, fly, and militant, in one person. Aint nothing else like it! This person was the NY MC! This is why men wanted to be him, and the ladies loved him. Rappers forgot this.
