off topic, but I noticed once the original hip hop heads in nyc started leaving NYC around 1995/96, that was the beginning of nyc hip hop going down in 1997. Once 2003 hit, Atlanta, and the south in general, started putting its whole leg in the door. By 2006/7, they took over the house, and NYC ain't been the same since!
Hip hop is an energy, to me, and NYC people don't really have it anymore, as a whole. Why I don't know, but they are living off of past rep. The reason why Atl has it is because they have the balls to do them, and if the world catches up, they catch up. That is what hip hop is about, and NYC was about, but now its all about being like everyone else around you for most "views", but claiming to be the most liked by the country, and acting like NYC is hot. Even to hanging out in strip clubs where bytches don't strip naked., just to act like everyone else in the country. Back in the day, NYC would just create something they could do, and do it well., they could care less about what everyone else was doing , and that's what gave nyc its style!
The people in NYC aint the same since the original hip hop heads started going down south
Nah, NYC THOUGHT shyt was getting better, but they just had a couple of popping songs, there was no real movement happening. Every rapper kept saying they was gonna bring NYC back, but aint shyt happen, and its because they forgot what hip hop was about!Ny wasn't allowed to crash and burn..and that's what hurt in the long run..
When the chicken noodle soup/aunt jackie era was shunned, it pretty much set Ny back...
Even if the older heads didn't like it, you gotta let the kids breathe and find their way..
I admit I was in a weird backpacker stage during that time, but looking back, it was fun light hearted music that nikkas was dancing too..
We just starting to get the ball rolling again...
As far as the strip club thing, that shyt died during the Guliani era..

When you look around, and see the music is hot from so many producers, the style that rappers use are different/banging, the style of dressing is banging, and the parties are popping THEN you will look up and see NYC is back. What happens now is people try to force it, using the media as their hype man, and for over a decade I heard "NYC is back" only for nothing to happen, and they copy what the new shyt is.
