This and I'm seeing people say this on social media as well. Glad people are not letting Cole fans rewrite history.

J.Cole dropped a diss track, it was just trash, simple as that... When that cole song dropped (and actually when the whole mixtape dropped), everybody wanted Kendrick vs Drake because Cole came up with garbage.

Nobody cares about the apology, we're just joking with that crap, the problem is the track he dropped.
It wasn't garbage though. Cole was too mentally weak to handle the pressure. As we later saw in the battle Kendrick stans had the louder voices. Push ups was also called trash when it came out. People had to go kicking and screaming to finally admit it was dope. Same coulda happened with 7 minute drill but he was too weak to wait it out. It was a solid response to to the energy on Like That

The only pressure he couldn't handle was public backlash when he dropped his track, even from his own fans. shyt would still be on dsps if it was well received.

it wasn't a solid response, it was wack, tbh.

Gkmc is kendrick's worst project. Great album, but still his worst effort. With that being said, it's better than anything cole and drake ever put out.

But as far as where it stands in kendrick's catalog, It's just a great rap album, classic rap album for casual rap fans. But his best music is on TPAB and DAMN, his most enjoyable music is on gnx, his best rapping is on s80. His deepest shyt is on Morale.
Aint no way :what: GKMC has no skips. I love TPAB but even that has skips. The last verse on sing about me is one of the greatest verses of all time. Yall done lost yall mind calling this his weakest album with Mr. Morale and GNX in the catalog

Again Kendricks fans owned the public perception. I remember it very well. People said Push Up was trash at first. I'm not saying 7 minute drill was amazing but it wasn't garbage

Dead ass. I don't think there's a single category where Cole is better than Kendrick. Kendrick is better at storytelling. Better at writing hooks. Better at conceptual writing. Better at the straight forward I'm better than you style. Better with the instrospective shyt.

J Cole could never in his life write a song like this

Whats so good about this song? Kendrick has better storytelling songs than this imo. So why out of all his songs did you choose this one? Generally curious

It's not about it being Kendricks best storytelling track. It's more about the level of introspection and perspective that Kendrick is able to achieve in his writing. And I think this is one of the best examples. To me great writing isn't just about being clever or witty. It's not even about bringing it all together(which Kendrick is great at). It's about your ability to get the reader(or listener) to actually feel the emotions that your characters are feeling. And I think this song does a masterful job at that.

And it's something that Cole has never really been great at. He can tell a story for sure. But he's not able to create the same level of atmosphere that Kendrick does. He's not able to build that tension and make you lose yourself in the world he created. Kendricks stories leave you feeling immersed in them. They evoke something in you. Coles stories do not(imo). And that's a difference in their writing ability. You can tell Kendrick is much more attached to the stories and characters he writes than Cole is.

Thats your personal experience though. No skip on morale and gnx for me. I skip 5 songs on gkmc (Compton, Real, Swimming Pool, Poetic Justice, Sherane)... not to mention gkmc is the kendrick album with the least musical merits. Dude probably didn't even know what a syncopation was, cuz shyt was off on almost every track.

And calling gkmc kendrick's weakest ain't an insult considering he has one of the best catalogs ever.

y'all better lay off the Sherm. GKMC is Kendricks best album
Thats probably my most played album ever, but this nowhere near kendrick's best, that title def goes to TPAB. gkmc probably ranks among his weakest efforts actually. Still a masterpiece though but it's more of a "rap album" whereas most of his other albums are musical masterpieces that transcended hip hop. Gkmc never did that, it remained a rap album that really didn't get any praise outside of the rap community.

Nah, objectively Tpab is by far kendrick's best album, and it's not close to being close.

As for gkmc, I think general consensus would be #3

But music geeks and music lovers would have it last for sure.

I'll speak for myself in saying

GKMC was legit like watching a Movie via audio, like no skips and you are intune and he found a way to make it an easy listen which can be very difficult for albums with substance/with a theme.

TPAB I can see why people like it, as sonically it is solid but for me personally it felt fake deep.

All his other work TBH were one and done listens to me. GNX had some stuff I added to my playlist, Damn was mid to me, and Mr.Morale I honestly can't even remember.
