I ride hard for straight dudes cause I know the mainstream white media wants to pain y'all in a negative light. All this is part of their divide and conquer tactic...I get this might not be the show for you, just don't watch. I def won't be watching because I know it's not coming from a genuine place. Nothing nuanced or realistic when it comes to black gay men. Always about sex, dating or overtly effeminate behavior. What about the regular everyday brutha (like me) that just happens to be gay. Is working on his tech podcast and is a black nationalist. That's a story that's never been told

again. 99% of black american women, would NOT date a man who told them, up front, first date:

"im attracted to men also, and have dated and been with men in the past, i'm bisexual"

period. I know this because all i know and have known my whole life are black women - friends, dated, slept with. all black women.

in fact, show me one. post a happy black couple where the man is openly bi.

When I first heard HBO was developing Black male dating I was hoping for something for a series similar to "that guy" .

I loved That Guy.

She's also developing a drama centered about a black nuclear family for HBO. And another drama about affluent black teens in a wealthy area of LA. She just pitched a black sci fi show as well.

It isn't like every single show she's involved in is shoehorning gay black men in. She just seems to want to tell as many different stories as possible. I don't see the issue here.

What intrigues me is how it appears that this is the 2nd show to be greenlighted. So, if this show fails (in viewership), it will be easy for HBO to halt the two other shows about black nuclear families.

My girl and I was discussing the Star Wars movie and how its kind of insane that the most common relationship of black women and black men dating is so rare these days in shows. Like either the male is gay or dating a white girl. Or the woman is dating a white dude.

What the fukk? No black male is going to watch this shyt.

I'm not even one of these "hate gays and fakkits" guys. I'm fairly progressive on the issue, but who is the market for this show?

Everyone besides black men, honestly.

I'll watch it and if its as witty as Insecure is I'll support it. Gay shyt doesn't really bother me, personally. However, I think you bring up and interesting point here. The market (and the industry) spoke with Moonlight, so they are looking to capitalize on that. With that said, I'm not sure if it really catches on like Insecure. What makes her show good is its reliability, I can't see millions of people finding a bi black male relateable...much as I hate to say. :manny:

The character is a fakkit. fukk HBO and Issa Rae, they made it so black entertainers are the only black people for our youth to look up to. Actual black leaders are not given a platform.
