I think a smart move on WB's part would be to hire comic writers who are deeply associated with a specific property to be script consultants for these movies. Like have John Ostrander consult on the Suicide Sequel or Peter David on the Aquaman movie. Just to get input from people who have provided seminal periods in these characters existence.
Have Paul Dini & Bruce Timm involved in the Harley Quinn solo flick and Grant Morrison with the Superman movie.

Did anyone actually say that though? t was obvious from how WB reacted after BvS got ripped by the critics that changes were coming and then for Suicide Squad to get the same critical thrashing it was a definite that things were happening behind the scenes.
At the end of the day these movies are making loot but the studio wants them to be well reviewed too so that is why Johns and Berg were brought on and Johns started talking about bringing the movies more in line with the spirit of the comics instead of taking the cues for the movies from Nolan's vibe on the Batman films.

Yea.... so many cats missed where Snyder himself said that the Batman in the Nolan movies was SOFT and that the Nolan trilogy is as DARK as so many DC stans love to tout.

We never saw the truck driver

IIRC Talia crashed on her own, but yeah he straight up shot the driver. I guess even batman can break his one rule if the situation is dire enough.
