Neither CBS nor FOX would let that happen

The best Netflix can do is try to compete with Amazon for TNF but even that's unlikely

Netflix should just stick to Christmas games

Facts.

Netflix has a history of canceling very good shows because the budget was out of their comfort zone (looking squarely at you Marco Polo). I could see them making a play for it, but not sure they got the stomach and money to pull it off.

We know for sure if they DO get it, they'll lock it behind some special tier or just raise the prices on everyone by $5+. They will pass the cost directly to the consumer instead of eating it like a legacy network.

We don't know the landscape. CBS and Fox could be X TV or Trump Network by then :mjlol:

Legacy networks dont eat it. They get it paid for in other ways like charging more for commercials (due to more eyeballs on their channels), as well as subsidies (your cities' local station paying to air those shows, etc), as well as tax breaks. Thats how they can air for 'free'.

Netflix has the bread to make it happen. It would be a terrible idea, but it can happen.

By federal law even if Netflix got a Sunday afternoon package your local game would be on OTA. The interesting thing is what affiliates would get those games. That’s above my pay grade, but I think people have to realize that even the mostly traditional AFC and NFC package may change. Let’s say Netflix only wants the main 4:25 games only every week and that’s it and is willing to pay a premium for it. NFL will have no problem doing that. It’s not just new media partners in this next deal. The NFL can dramatically slice and change the way these packages are set up. I’m sure Disney and Comcast want the Championship Games too and that might be possibly too.

Wouldn't this work for everyone if they just split the weekly double header with Netflix?

This will never happen. FOX just gave tom a 370 million dolla 10 year contract. CBS would be dead without the NFL.

I'll personally duff @Roger Goodell if he even considered this
