I signed a contract for my job. I read it, and had a lawyer read it. I made sure there was nothing in there I would look back on and regret having signed it. We really Shoehorning in someone’s death as a comparison to someone willingly signing a multi million dollar contract and agreeing to everything in it. Absolutely fukking laughable. It’s simple. Don’t sign something you will regret later on due to ignorance. Who’s fault is it for agreeing to something you say was unethical in the first place? Takes two parties to agree to a signed contract. If it’s so unethical, tell them to shove it and go elsewhere. Yet he signed it

Understandable but contracts are not about what is fair but what both parties agreed to. He should of thought about this before signing regardless of his situation back then. If they are not following through on their contractual obligations then CC should be roasted, but if they are then there is nothing wrong.

They should be roasted either way. They basically did the same to him by spreading rumors that he was a crackhead.

I think a lot of entertainment industry contracts are unconscionable, but media companies are too powerful and you will never get Judges in NY and CA to find them unconscionable. If it were another industry it might be different.

You got a point. I get the whole thing about fingerprinting that's hard to curb. I have been internet-security aware for some time now. I dont have accounts in any of these platforms. I browse YouTube via invidious or freetube desktop app. If i click on a twitter link here, it redirects me to an instance of nitter.net so i can view it without going to twitter. Im not even on Facebook right now so any kind of social media interaction i have is via clicking links posted in threads here.

Moreover, i use a combo of NoScript, privacy badger, cookie autodelete, https everywhere, etc. I do the same with my phone, shyt is rooted and a iron clad firewall has been put in place to prevent apps mining my phone for data.

So I'd say im more private than the average internet user, although my methods aint 100% secure.

The interface is customizable and way better than YouTube's own imo, in addition to being more private of course. No ads, can change the speed on all videos etc., everything downloadable and you can easily create playlists and feeds that you can save and import to other devices.

What version are you using? It wasn't working for a bit but with the latest update it's been working for me again. I'm using 0.20.4 and it's money. I think the trick is to get the latest version from their github page because they have it on there sooner than they publish it on F-Droid I think.

Im stuck on 0.20.1 unfortunately
Im reluctant downloading the github one because the signature wont be compatible with F-Droid's repo to get automatic updates in the future. Im a bit lazy to do manual updates so I'll wait for another week to see if F-Droid puts it out. If not, then i'll jump the ship and upgrade manually.

So don’t sign the contract champ. It’s not splitting atoms. I don’t have a single social media platform with my actual name attached, what am I signing away you keep strawmanning absolute nonsense in. Dave signed a contract. Dave is now upset at what’s contained in said contract. Dave has no one to blame but himself, because he signed the contract. It’s really as simple as that. Dave says himself he didn’t know what them owning his likeness in perpetuity meant. He signed it anyways. Who’s fault is that?
