No such thing as the "right thing" in business breh

Comedy Central would probably tell dave "and when you didn't have any other options on the table we are the ones who signed you to do your show that everyone else turned down. Without us you don't even get your big break".

You can't make a 100 million dollars until you make 1 dollar...

There is a "right thing" in business...not everyone abides by the greedy backstabbing "Y/Y growth no matter what" Anglo-Saxon culture. You need to be cognizant of it because they will get you when your back is turned but that doesn't mean you have to do bad business yourself. Comedy Central did bad business and messed up their cash cow no matter how you slice it.

It's not back stabbing...it's an agreed upon contract...

If I sign a contract that says a company can use my name and likeness forever...I expect them to use my name or likeness... forever...

Company Central is still rolling in money over the chapelle show...so no...they actually didn't do bad business...

I swear Dave Chapelle is turning into for black people what Donald Trump turned into for white people...

see the thing is Dave has LEVERAGE with Netflix. The content he has done with them has no middle man like this show which they would be paying comedy central to license. He could lean on that and I'm sure he did. His stand ups have been a blessing for netflix and they are exclusive.

Bad Business is using a windfall clause to cap the earnings of your bread winner. I see it day in and day out and just because it is in a contract doesn't mean it's not bad business. Because what happens is you use that windfall clause one too many times and your talent leaves and that's exactly what happened to them. My philosophy is if I say I'm going to give you dollar for dollar commission and you bring a $1M contract monthly recurring, I'm going to chip you off that $1M because I know you are going to bring me another $1M. A lot of businesses get greedy and that $1M contract comes across the table and now they want to renegotiate because they want to keep as much of the revenue as possible. We can agree to disagree but once again, the person bringing the $1M contract to the table is going to leave and find someone who gonna break dollar for dollar with them.

That's not the issue. The issue brought up by Chapelle is artists being robbed of their work r ability to work under the pretext of a contract.

i understand that I’m saying Dave exceeded his contract and the went to do another and they low balled him plus took his name and likeliness idk the fully details of his but that’s what it sounded like he was saying in that video

a lot of other artist that I see doing that don’t even finish they contract like meg and future I think the two pervious I remember publicly wanting out they contracts but didn’t even attempt to just finish out that weak first deal I get your point I’m saying Dave fulfilled and exceed the terms of his first contract while some artist don’t but want out of that bad first deal

Elaborate please?
Nikkas talked about his rapping but Master P practiced and preached black ownership to the fullest

Them crackas tried to get him in the same type of bullshyt contract they got Dave and countless other starving artists in and he outsmarted them

P finessed a record deal that will never again be duplicated
