I wouldn't care about this move if they upgraded standard version to 4k. They really should've created a new plan for single screen that included 4k. I think people would sub to a version that is $10 single screen with 4k.

They don’t have a choice. They’ve grown the business as much as they can on the path they took to get where they are today. Pretty much every US household had access to Netflix either by paying directly or password sharing. For them to continue growing they have to convert the password sharers.

And this is the problem with taking a company public. No matter how profitable you are, it's never good enough for the shareholders that have you by the balls unless you keep growing and growing and growing.
