If your argument is that Jay-Z is profiting off of the movement while giving nothing to it then I respectfully disagree and leave it there.

You used the word piggyback and seem to have offense with it. Meanwhile, I'm glad to have someone else piggybacking if it pushes the movement forward (it does imo) and they have given the ones who came before their props (he has).

What is the movement in 2019 though, and how is Jay going to push it forward?

The movement started as protesting social injustice and nothing has changed in that regard. Cops still shooting nikkas left and right..white nationalism is stronger now than it was when Kap first kneeled.. so those things haven't changed and it's not something the NFL can change.

What it is about now to me is Kap not having a job.. point blank period. Hes good enough to be in the league, and should be in the league, and he's not in the league. The NFL can't stop cops from killing ppl, but they can stop teams from blackballing Kap. That's what they have control over, and they've done nothing about it, you feel me? So how is Jay teaming up with the NFL going to help anything? How is picking out a rapper for the halftime show, or filming some PSA commercial about police violence going to really change anything in the big picture?

This partnerships is a little fishy to me tbh:patrice: Why does the NFL need Roc Nation to help with their Social Justice initiatives? Idk but I think the NFLPA should be the force behind those initiatives since the players are the ones protesting and being blackballed. It just makes more sense to me to have a player or former player be the face of that.

Jay should have just stuck with the agreement that Roc Nation will lead the live entertainment programming and gracefully bowed out of having anything to do with the Social Justice piece unless Kaep was involved.

this is a weird partnership. jay has done a lot of social work so he could be honest but not including kaep and including an entertainment deal in this comes off slimy by him and the nfl. seems more like a damage control move by the nfl and they were willing to pay whatever and of course jay saw an opportunity.

i'm indifferent about this. jay and kaep are two different men with different motives. i do think at this point kaep should speak for himself. i'm sure nessa and reid are saying how he feels but hearing it from him would make it more impactful and clear imo.

I think you're being unrealistic. Kaepernick is never playing in the NFL again...I think even he knows that. That's why the settlement occurred. His compensation was NFL's acknowledgement of their fukk up and he accepted what he believed he would make as a back up QB.

Kap doesn't have a monopoly on social Injustice guys... Why are we freaking out as if he should?

Now should he be able to walk up to Roc Nation, demand a seat at the table and get it? Absolutely. But I don't think anyone who feels the same way as Kap should be prevented from making moves because they don't have access to him

Kaepernick doesn't but his story is married with the NFL. The questions are going to come up. Jay Z saying we done with kneeling was a misstep didn't help either.

Two players who work with Kaep are still kneeling and are still employed by the league. Think it's unfair to speak for players who put their necks on the line to speak on that specific movement.

He wasn’t getting much attention from teams before the lawsuit..

Logically.. why would a team sign him AFTER the lawsuit against the NFL?

If money wasn’t his endgame then why shouldn’t we know the details of how much he got paid?

Why would he want to play for an NFL team anyway? Imagine the torture of the fans screaming slurs and not wanting you on the team? Not to mention the dirty hits he would get from opposing teams. You got your money, so why walk on egg shells for a league/fan base that doesn’t want you?
Breh money was the endgame of the lawsuit because of lost wages of his time of not getting picked up. He probably signed an NDA. And the man loves football.

His quote was "we have moved past kneeling," and I can accept that as a misstep. He definitely didn't need to phrase it that way. I think his point though was kneeling is a symbolic gesture and we're moving from symbolism into systemic action that will benefit minorities and areas of strife. Working with the NFL is an important first step.

Kap is the only reason the NFL was looking to make a deal in the first place. Trying to separate Kap and the Roc Nation deal is wrong.....they are linked.
