Of course it's mostly men spreading it, including to women. I'm saying that it's not all gay men, and looking at it that way obscures the broader problem of sexual education/hygiene.

Those aren't negligible numbers. 1 in 4 new HIV cases in the US are women, and of those, 2 out of 3 are Black women. That's a frightening stat.

It is a frightening stat until you stand back and look at it. Yes proportionally it's sounds horrible. But if you look at the real numbers it's not so bad. It's estimated that 1 million people are living with aids, 250k are women. Leaving us with about 160k black women with aids. Yes we should strive to lower this number, but it's not that bad in the grand scheme of things. The problem comes from a disproportionate amount of blacks being in poverty, and uneducated, not from any more or less risky sexual practices.

As we cure poverty things like this will naturally improve

Black people also account for a disproportionate amount of poverty cases. It's not a case of black people being more promiscuous or unsafe. It's about black people having less access to good healthcare and education.

There's a close connection between these factors. Poverty and lack of education means worse healthcare, etc, but it can also mean a culture of risk developing. That's part of why it exists in the gay community, too- gays also suffer economic discrimination, etc. In fact, same deal for HIV rates in poor countries with higher childbirth rates.

Remember, not all homos have anal sex, as the HIV studies point out, so there are other factors to consider that are accounting for some of those numbers. Regardless, that is only when unprotected anal sex is concerned, which again points to the real problems- protection, getting tested, knowing if sexual partners have the disease, etc. There is also the issue of drug culture in the gay community with regard to syringes, etc, but that can be found outside it as well.
