How about watching basketball games and your favorite nba team for the sake of it?
Casuals/TMZ ball fans always need colorful characters, relatable personalities, captivating storylines, constant narratives/legacy discussions, shocking headlines and larger than life players to enjoy basketball smh. I suspect that all of these casuals who complain about how boring the nba is have no dog in the fight(they don’t have no favorite team of their own)
That’s why they complain about supposed boring stars because they only watch and follow « controversial, flashy and transcendent » star players. And they follow them from team to team. MJ fans pretending to be Bulls fans. Kobe fans pretending to be Lakers fans. KD fans pretending to be Thunder/Warriors/Nets/Suns fans. Westbrook fans pretending to be Thunder/Rockets/Wizards/Lakers/Clippers/Nuggets fans. Bron fans pretending to be Cavs/Heat/Lakers fans. Curry fans pretending to be Warriors fans.
I wonder how many people stopped watching the nba after Bird/Jordan/Kobe retired? And I wonder how many « fans will later retire from nba fandom when Bron/curry/kd will permanently close out their careers in 2-4 years?
When you only watch basketball with agendas, when you don’t find basketball inherently entertaining, when you don’t like basketball as it is, when you don’t accept the qualities and flaws of the sport, and when you have no team allegiances/loyalties, that’s what happens.
They don’t like the main event ( nba basketball games ) but they prefer the side distractions around it.
False. Kobe fans still root for the Lakers, Bird fans still root for the Celtics, MJ fans still root for the Bulls. Warriors had a very dedicated local fanbase even before Curry era. The other guys you named dont have stanbases rabid enough to make a difference, and the stans of those players learned their behavior from a certain stanbase. That LeGBT shyt is really just y'all.
