I'll post what I said in the other thread about it -

I don't necessarily disagree about Inside The NBA and the negative effect it has on the discourse, but that's more a reflection of something that already existed. The league's popularity has always been more about the players than the actual teams, and because hoops is naturally a more personalized sport where it functions through 5v5 and 1v1, showmanship and gamesmanship is its fuel.

It's why you had Wilt near the end of the 70s, into the 80s and 90s shytting on the players and product, because the league's popularity grew and championed players over him. You had the likes of Snapper Jones and Bill Russell shytting on the 80s saying defense was non-existent.

Inside the NBA isn't saying or doing anything differently to what talking heads have always done about the product.

doubt it "turning the corner"

but yes, having former players go on tv and trash the product, and having that show as the most popular nba show can't be good for the overall perception of the league

that, and NBA media in general is geared toward haters due to hot takes and outlandish opinions about its best players

Example: Jayson Tatum, an objectively EXCELLENT bball player, just spent the entire offseason getting slammed and ridiculed.
Luka gets made fun of for being fat
Shaq has been ridiculing Rudy Gobert for years, even though he's clearly a positively impactful player. Current players like Draymond also pile on
Skip Bayless has made a career of hating on LeBron
"rings" culture has made everyone's career almost meaningless if they don't win a chip (Harden, Chris Paul, Westbrook, Paul George, etc)
Teams that do win championships have their accomplishments downplayed. the Celtics went 16-3 in the playoffs, best since the 2017 warriors, and many people say it's not a real chip bc they weren't "battle tested", or bc Spida got hurt, or bc they didn't play the bucks, etc. Jokic's ring doesnt count bc he didnt play a 50-win team, like that's his fault. The Warriors 2022 ring doesnt count bc Jokic didn't have Jamal, Ja got hurt, didn't play the Suns, the Celtics were tired after two consecutive game 7's, etc. the 2021 bucks would have lost if Kyrie didn't get hurt, the 2020 lakers played in the bubble, the 2019 raptors would have lost if KD's achilles didnt tear and Klay's ACL didnt rupture, the 2018 Warriors wouldn't have won if CP0 played, the 2017 Warriors would have lost if Zaza didn't injure Kawhi, the 2016 Cavs wouldn't have come back 3-1 if Steph's knee was healthy, Draymond didn't get suspended, the 2015 Warriors would have lost if Kevin Love and Kyrie were healthy

there are countless examples

I think NBA media has too many problems and it's FUBAR :manny:

last few times I watched Inside they really toned down shytting on the league and players. Think someone talked to them about it. A few years back it was bad tho, if it was a game between two mid teams chuck would talk about how nobody in america was watching and how he’d be watching hockey instead lol

And some people think that shyt was cool :mjlol:

Imagine if Ryan Clark or someone said that about the Falcons-Raiders game. Goodell would have had him fired at halftime :russ:

Yea I was coming into to say that they are toned down with this rhetoric now. Prolly why the show will stick around despite WB losing NBA games. It's also why Chuck doesn't make San Antonio women jokes anymore.

He's not wrong and I'm a inside the nba defender
That show was good because it was just jokes all the other shows was supposed to be serious about breaking down the game. They made their lane by being comical but that doesn’t excuse every one else for trying to follow suit and be bad at it

yea one thing I always peep is how no one on the nfl commentary team will act like the ongoing game is a complete dud. even if it’s a blowout with a shyt team losing they’ll entertain ways they can get back in it. chuck would say a playoff game is over at halftime then after the game chuck and shaq will be gone from their seats :dead:
