Basically NBA and the top two or three soccer leagues are going to offer the most money because of their global reach, and the NBA has smaller squads than soccer, so NBA players will have the opportunity to make more.

I would try hard to steer my kid away from football and try to get them playing basketball, soccer, or baseball (which has a slightly smaller global reach, but where you can specialize and make good money - a left-hander with two elite pitches can make 8M a year in relief).

What the taxes look like for nba players tho? I know constantly playing in New York-cali can be a big whack on the salaries (esp in the western conference)

They deserve it tho, nba the most exciting sport bar none imo.

This is what happens when players have a strong union that requires the owners to split revenue 50/50. Unlike most sports you can’t strike break NBA players due to the speed and size of the average nba player.

Depends on where you play. There's a jock tax which means that you pay state income taxes for each state you play in on the road. However, if you play in a state with no state income tax, you don't have to pay those for 41+ home games. So if you play in Orlando, Miami, Memphis, Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio, you don't have to pay any state income tax for half your games. If they put teams in Seattle and Vegas, it'll be like that for those players, too.

Then there are progressive federal taxes that are the same for every player.
