Because Giannis is their best rim protector, that's why.
And Wiggins was 3-13 the next time he played them.
And as you astutely pointed out Giannis rarely guards him.
My point here wasn't Wiggins scoring 31 on the Bucks in one game. My point was that in the few instances I saw Giannis try to guard Wiggins, Andrew was able to get by him with ease. When Wiggins played Kawhi, it was almost unfair. Kawhi made Wiggins look like he didn't even know how to play basketball. He humiliated him repeatedly when they were matched up. He ripped him play after play. And Wiggins was unable to get any good looks.
Giannis is not a bad defender. He's elite as a rim protector and is pretty good on the perimeter. But he's not as good as Kawhi. That is what my initial post was about. The gap between Kawhi and Giannis as defenders is pretty vast right now.

Bradley missed too many games for my liking (if he didn't, he would be deserving of having his name on one of those teams), the real snub here is Marcus Smart. He played the second-most total minutes for the Celtics (behind IT2), would often guard the best backcourt threat (often IT2's opposite), acted as a great help defender and lockdown defender simultaneously, and was his team's one-size-fits-all defensive cork - guarding 1-4 regularly - sometimes even 5s, and even forcing himself to guard multiple positions on the same damn play. He's basically the guard version of Draymond Green.
Yeah, Kawhi definitely made it on reputation this season (still doesn't take away from him being arguably the best wing defender in the game), still not the worst selection, but it just adds to the shame how more effective defenders who have greater defensive workloads don't get recognition.
You can't be serious with this, you can't bring up how Wiggins did in game 1 then say Giannis "rarely guards him" when it's pointed out that Wiggins stunk it up in game 2. Giannis was on him just as much in game 2 as he was in game 1.
Chris Paul
If he can get his shot more consistent, he's an all star 2 way player in the making. He drives fans crazy with some of his antics and shot selection, but be makes so many winning basketball plays its hard to ignore.
