Yep the water was bobbing and It felt like I was swimming against it. Halfway there I swallowed some seawater and could feel my throat drying up.

Had to calm myself, stopped then did backstroke the rest of the way to get to the boat. Climbing the ladder to the boat made me realize just how close I came to going straight under.

Tbh lakes are more dangerous as they seem calmer and people really underestimate them.

That likely would have been my death day. Glad you made it through.

RIP but not trying to be disrespectful, but going without a life vest is a dumb thing to do. I actually capsized a canoe before in a lake when you have full clothes on, its hard as hell to swim even with a life vest. Its not a joke, even if you are a strong swimmer. Wet clothes adds several pounds on you and creates all sort of drag. When it happens to you, you can see how easy it is to drown if you're not prepared. We had to swim to shore and it wasn't an absurd distance and still wore us out.

If you go to swim, you gotta master the back stroke man.

There’s a reason why lifeguards put you on your back when you’re being rescued: you don’t do shyt.

I hadn’t swim for years and went to a swimming pool in Vietnam and damn near drown. I just turned on my back, then a few mins later I started back stroke. I still can’t swim as good as I did when I was a kid but backstroke and keep your ears out of the water if you’re uncomfortable

Could have been a cramp or heart attack or whatever but why was she out there without a vest with a toddler. During coronavirus :what:
Ppl ain't trying to say it but there's some indication this may be suicide. The toddler had a vest but she didn't. There's also report the toddler said "mommy jumped in and never came back up"

Can't imagine a 3 year old getting back in a boat by himself. The adult life jacket was still on the boat, TMZ says the boy told police his mom jumped in the water.:mjcry:
