NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
You said earlier they weren't dissing over Carmen, which is false. Jay's Best of Me Remix verses were subliminals as well. My original contention was that they were subliminlly dissing each other since 99, which is true. So why did you dispute my post?
They were dissing eachother since 99. But not cause of Carmen. Carmen didnt even admit to sleeping with Jay until fall of 2000. The original dispute was Nas creating You’re The Man for the Nastradamus sessions. Which is basically impossible based on the contents of the song and the timeline.

Nas is my GOAT but I’m keeping my hopes for this joint low after Nasir, that joint was forgettable

I’m loving the flow on the snippet though
There is no reason to bring up what you thought about NASIR when you're talking about the Lost Tapes 2 cause thats a compilation of tracks from 2005 to 2018.

He's saying Nas didn't know about Jay and Carmen in 99 to reference it on you're da man

Go to the end of this interview.

Nas said he has records where he answers a thing or 2 and talks about lyrical assaults. I wonder if Nas actually used any of these records or not.

I'm imagining one of those beats with the alarm and a hook where Swizz is all "grab your best friend by the hand and let's make an adult film AN ADULT FILM" with the second time being a crowd saying it in unison.

I think the song was recorded in 2000 at the end of Nastradamus & before he got into the crux of Stillmatic. It's based on the introspective nature of the song correlating with where Nas was in his life. Nas had to rediscover himself in 2000-01. Just my personal opinion.

I still think Nas could have submliminally dissed Carmen & Jay before Stillmatic bc streets were already talking, and he had ammo to go at both. Carmen for infidelity and Jay for positioning himself to be king.

Nastradamus was released in November of 99 tho. Im just sayin You’re The Man wasnt recorded for those Nastradamus recording sessions that’s all.
