What ive come to understand is that nas content is much more powerful than the beat. While most artist need a dope beat so they can spazz, find a pocket, create the flow. Nas just need something to talk that shyt.

Nas is the reason you listen. The beat is just the app in 10 course meal.

Then go play blaze a 50
Y'all always find ways to complicate shyt that's not complicated.
Nas working with producers y'all been begging for, but now the beats are atrocious. Smh
Just stick to the shyt you like. Leave Nas to cats that get it

How dare I have an opinion! I love Nas he's in my top 3. His ear for beats and hooks has sucked since IWW

How is it that he can go song for song with any artist in the history of this rap shyt and his catalog is 3rd at worst?
Eagerly awaiting your genius level response. I just need some consistency

this really might be his most polarizing project yet, Im surprised at who loves or hates it
I cant understand how this is polarizing actually. The bars and songs are dope all the way through. And he has the producers everybody begged him to work with. I'm convinced people going to find a way to complain about any nas project.

What did they rate it?

Watson gave it a strong 4/5 and Lettermen said 3.5/5 but he would only take off 3-4 songs

I liked it cause they both seemed pretty positive about the album and really broke down what Nas was rapping about and how a lot of it is him paying tribute to MCs before him like Smoothe da Hustler with his broken language flex on No bad Energy and so on.

I just enjoyed the review it cause obviously you know getting variations on twitter and everyone is into declaring him done and these guys see hes rhyming special here

I mean thats sort of it. I think some people think this was gonna be on par with a new studio album because Lost Tapes much like Illmatic has taken on this mythological legend in his catalogue where people said its better than his albums and people didnt think this would be just solid songs he was working on like a mixtape.

But like I said I think its decent

Nas is polarizing regardless of what he does. Most polarizing hip hop legend ever. Also most scrutinized. nikka was a legit afraid to release these Pete Rock songs cause he knows how scrutinized he is and he didnt want to ruin Pete’s legacy if they didnt live up to The World Is Yours. And look. He’s obviously right. Maybe now Pete can wipe this off his bucket list and understand whatever he does for Nas from here on out wont ever be good enough for everyone. This is why I liked Nas working with Salaam Remi because he tuned out alot of the bullshyt and created art with Nas. He had tough skin. If u think about it. Look at the legendary producers who Nas has worked with and people still shytted on their beats they gave to him. From Dre to Timbo to No ID to Alchemist to Buckwild and the list goes on. And if they gave some of these SAME beats to another artist it wouldnt have been a problem.

Nas has been polarizing to fickle minded critics because they won't let Illmatic go and want to box nas in artistically. Even with that said, most nas albums have good critic ratings

...and even better fan ratings but with those critic reviews there's always some off the wall/hating as reviews with opinions that always circle back to Illmatic

It will always be that way for many reasons, some are for the ones I mentioned above and the other is that nas doesn't fuk with any of these more mainstream HipHop radio/podcast/youtube/twitter/billboard etc...avenues while other people:mjpls:have these people in their back pocket.
