Since everybody talking reviews

Illmatic - 5/5
IWW - 5/5
The Lost Tapes - 5/5
Stillmatic - 4.5/5
God’s Son - 4.25/5
Life Is Good - 4/5
I Am... - 3.75/5
Untitled - 3.5/5
Street’s Disciple 3.5/5
Hip Hop Is Dead - 3.25/5
Nastradamus - 2.75/5
Nasir - 2.5/5

Is how I rate Nas’s albums :ehh:
I think LIG and Untitled deserve higher scores. Especially Untitled. That album was the blueprint for the last 10 years in this country.

I can’t even respect modern day reviews, they don’t listen to rap the way we do. They’ll sweat Cardi Bs album but then have the nerve to nitpick Nas. They shouldn’t even be able to review artists like Nas. Everyone that I know that likes Nas has fukked with everything they heard of this album. Dude is flowin his ass off, is telling stories and I’d mixin all different kinda rhyme schemes fukk whatever these music journalist think is dope nowadays
These are the same white hipsters that we're sucking Megan there Stallions dikk a few weeks ago. And praise whatever is new/obscure. They need to get the entire fucc out the culture

I know the gravity surrounding that album’s important. But the bad thing with rating Nas albums is I compare him to himself, so I can’t in good conscience put Untitled on the same level as God’s Son

That’s the gift & the curse of Nasir Jones, his 3rd & 4th ranked album’s be better than most people’s best

I strongly disagree...
You can't use the 5 mics rates and compare each artist with himself...
You mean to say Justin Biber's best album is 5 mics but Nas Untitled is 3.5?

That’s ur opinion. Im a Gibbs fan and that album is dope but not better than LIG. A 5 out of 5 fam? Gimme a fukkin break bro. Lol. Nas’ average also went down cause he had 11 more professional reviews than Gibbs. Mind u. I REALLY dont give a fukk about a review at the end of the day. This LT2 album did NOT deserve a 3.1. That a mediocre ass score right there. No way in hell does LT2 deserve that. And if u look at the actual review. U can tell the reviewer had no idea wtf he was talking about. U believe Bandana is better than 4:44? And 4:44 aint 4 points better than Life Is Good. And Plugs got a better score than 4:44.
Review: With "4:44," Shawn Carter Sacrifices JAY-Z's Invincibility For Soul-Baring Excellence

For instance. U think Bandana or Plugs is better than Roc Marci’s Reloaded? If u do we done speaking. Lol they gave this shyt a 4. Crazy.
Roc Marciano - Reloaded

I wouldn't give Bandana a 5, there are a couple tracks that are meh or average and it's less diverse lyrically than Pinata. I'd give it a 4. I'd give LT2 a 3.5 because there are a couple weak tracks and others feel unfinished or unfocused. I have no issue with their lower review. It's basically in the ballpark of what I'd expect (3-3.5).

The point isn't to agree with every review. Reloaded is better than all the albums we've discussed on this page lol. The only thing I care about when it comes to review scores is whether it makes sense - either to me personally, or something I can objectively understand. And all these reviews - Bandana, LT2, LIG - are in the basic ballpark of what I'd expect. The only one that's a bit out there is Plugs, but Benny is on fire right now and I understand he's getting his props.

I think 4:44 was a bit overrated, personally. Good album but people act like it's perfect or something. And worse yet act like it's the first "grown man rap" album of all time lmao.

That dont mean it deserve a 3.5. It can be a 4. An artist can have multiple albums with the same rating.

Good list, personally I'd give I Am.. a 2.5, Nastradamus a 2.0 and raise Nasir to 3.25 but the rest is spot on.

3.5 is a harsh score for a dope album bro. And yes. Reloaded is the only album we discussed that deserves a 5 star rating. Benny dont deserve 4.5. And Gibbs dont deserve a 5. nikkas can debate this Gibbs album being better than this Lost Tapes 2 but u aint finna tell me Plugs is better. I think this album deserves a 4 honestly. And LIG deserves like a 4.3 or 4.2.

Idk about no Justin Beiber music to know if his shyt is a 5/5 my G :pachaha: and that’s a completely different genre of music so they’re weighed differently

Yeah you can have the same rating in albums, but I just don’t think Untitled is a solid 4.

There’s songs from the Untitled era that coulda enhanced the official released and put in that upper echelon. But the album is still ok

Imagine if some of the weaker tracks were replaced by Livin It, a couple songs of the N tape, Who Are You...

So quick story

Me and my sister were taking an hour long car trip last week. She knows i’m a huge Nas stan and she was asking me about Al Jarreau Of Rap because she read online about how divisive it was. I played it for her and she liked it. Then we got into a conversation about Nas’s storytelling and I told her Nas was the best storyteller of all time. She wanted to hear some joints. So these are are her reactions...

Who Killed It- “I like it, but I see how people could not get what he was going for. This is the type of song that needed a dope ass video that explained some things or something. “

Live Now- Thats Nas rapping as a girl? See he could’ve just gotten a woman rapper to do that. ANY female rapper would have loved to do this. And he’s basically talking to himself about how he’s a fan of himself and how great a guy he is? And then he as a girl dies of Aids? Naw I ain’t feeling this

Undying Love- “Why are all these songs ending with some woman dying? Why he have to go get his friend involved? See thats just like ya’ll nikkas. Getting all mad over a girl and now ya’ll BOTH dead over some bullshyt.” (She laughed hard as hell at the “My surprise couldn’t match the one she had for me” line)

Amongst Kings- “Yea this is creative, but why only HE get to come back from the dead? His friend who he dragged along to kill his girlfriend don’t get to come back? See I ain’t trying to be Nas friend. fukk that!”

I Gave You Power- “Yea you play this a lot. This is the best one. Very creative”

Book Of Rhymes- Yea this is good. I like how the pages flipped and it was like he was actually going through his notebook. He sounded very honest

Rewind- “I liked it all up until he started talking about some random girl sucking his dikk. I didn’t need all that. I like how he kept rhyming everything backwards”

Blaze a 50, shootouts, last words, get down, p*ssy killz are better choices

at least all of these albums are good to great, depending on your preference
:yeshrug:

If we were talking about giving some wack Lil Pump album 3s and 4s then year I'd question the publication. But at least hiphopdx is supporting solid shyt.
