Albums Nas - The Lost Tapes 2 (Discussion Thread)

Does everyone not realize that The Lost Tapes 1 were finished songs, some of which (Fetus, Drunk By Myself, Blaze a 50, Poppa was a Playa) didn't make the cut because of a leak. Black Zombies, Everybody's Crazy and No Idea's Original actually appear on Stillmatic. THESE ARE 7 OF 12 FINISHED, FULLY REALIZED SONGS!!

I'm pretty impressed and satisfied with LT2 for most of the songs being half way finished, and not fully realized.

Bro it dont even matter. The album is dope as fukk and it’s way better than his last project. Everyone I know who has heard it loves it.

I dont care where it ranks among Nas albums, I dont care what the hip hop influencers/twitter thinks.

As a fan of Nas, its a collection of songs that fit in nicely with his discography.

No outside validation needed.

As a note; for people who keep re-ranking Nas among their top 5:

Understand that the greats of the 90s are essentially part time rappers, their active days are past them. Everything from here on out is bonus. These releases are like epilogues.

Current favourite tracks: Adult Film, War Against Love, Highly Favored and You Mean the World (even though ive had slightly rougher unreleased version for 10 years)

Nas, Jay, Common, Styles P, and Pusha T are basically the only ones that put out projects or content on a continuous basis. Proud of each and every one of them.

It's a good project, better than Nasir. I cut it to 12 songs (jarreau was super trash, royalty, who are you were mid and adult film was trash)

Life Is Good >>>>>> Bandana and Plugs. But it got a lower score than both. Smh. Lol

LIG is a 4/5 album. Bandana is a 4 but I could see someone giving it 4.5. Plugs...3.5 for me. The problem with fans (and stans) is that good becomes great, and great becomes classic. Too easily. LIG is a dope album....but it has flaws like many other good albums, which keep it from being classic. I'm not calling anything 5/5 if it has a wack (Summer On Smash) or meh (Reach Out, Worlds An Addiction) track. People have made "classic" an almost irrelevant term by over using it and applying it based more on their love for the artist than their objective love for the project.

The general consensus was that LIG was a good album. 4 is an acceptable score, and one that most review sites gave it. Taking that as an insult or getting mad about it suggests fanboy shyt and stan google lenses, man. "Good" not being good enough happens when everything HAS to be hailed a classic or else you're a hater.

That’s ur opinion. Im a Gibbs fan and that album is dope but not better than LIG. A 5 out of 5 fam? Gimme a fukkin break bro. Lol. Nas’ average also went down cause he had 11 more professional reviews than Gibbs. Mind u. I REALLY dont give a fukk about a review at the end of the day. This LT2 album did NOT deserve a 3.1. That a mediocre ass score right there. No way in hell does LT2 deserve that. And if u look at the actual review. U can tell the reviewer had no idea wtf he was talking about. U believe Bandana is better than 4:44? And 4:44 aint 4 points better than Life Is Good. And Plugs got a better score than 4:44.
