"Popular Thug" is actually dope and "Vernon Family" and It Was Written being helmed by the Trackmasters dispels the notion that big name producers aren't optimal for Nas.

I said Big name Super Producers. I meant an established Pharell an established Kanye West Dre.
These guys are a mega elite tier. I could've been more specific but pretty much anybody in the thread understands the context.

And has generally made not up to par and disappointments with negs producers. The Nasir Kanyye West produced album was not impressive as people would anticipate. Same with the Dre executive produced The Firm L.P..
The two prior Pharell joints with And aren't memorable Mocking Bird and Popular Thug with Kelis unless you really like Kelis.

Again by mentioning Pharell as a super producer we are talking mega elite tier producers that sell way more than Track Masters and have way more notoriety than they have and had.

And has great tracks with non mega super elite production through out his career.

Nas rapping is the star of the show not the beats. If your coming to Nas for his beats and not the genius level lyrics and rhymes I wonder if you really get Nas.

HipHopDX gave LIG a 4...it's not like they're haters or something, they tend to have decent reviews. They just gave Bandana a 5, and Benny's EP a 4.5.

As I said in my review there's a lot of stuff here that sounds unfocused or unfinished. This isn't Lost Tapes 1, focus wise or quality wise. It's a solid album. Definitely makes me excited for whatever the Nas Album Done album ultimately becomes.

True and historically they've also given "mid" Nas albums good reviews (Streets Disciple, Hip Hop is Dead and Untitled) but ultimately the review "this isnt Lost Tapes 1" which obviously given that album had cuts ready to go and this is literal cutting room floor stuff

I dont know what this says about Nas album done, he clearly put some tracks for that here and after 2 straight mixed reactions including one for his vault, I've never felt less confident for Nas in terms of his music career even though he still got heat and I ike this album

U full of shyt. U was saying how great Life Is Good was when it dropped and how it was his best album since Illmatic. U literally post up in every Nas thread to say some hatin shyt. Sometimes not even related to the music. U will say some shyt like u would smack him or some shyt when u know ya pasty white ass would get beat up and clapped if u laid a finger on dude. U have this irrational hate for this nikka that goes beyond the music and Ive watched it grow over the years.
Go listen to friends again and tell me he was awful on DR :mjlol:

I know this really doesnt matter. However, it's crazy the lack of hip hop media support nas has gotten for this project. I've hardly seen anybody in the hip hop media post about it. I have seen some loyalist, however for nas to be a goat like he is, the lack of support is crazy. Anybody else notice this or just me? It's just funny because Jay is a goat to for example. To me him and nas are the greatest of all time. However, the media flocks to support jay whenever he drops. What do yall think the reason is?

With The Neptunes/Pharrell, they are 2/3 IMO. "Popular Thug" is dope and "Vernon Family" is a highlight off LT2. "Flyest Angels" from the Charlie's Angel's soundtrack is wack though. I don't know what "Mockingbird" is.

With Dr. Dre, "Phone Tap" is classic, "Firm Fiasco" is flames. "Nas Is Coming" is overproduced, but cool. "Hustlers" is ok.

I don't really dig the Kanye/Nas songs outside of "Adam & Eve", "Still Dreamin", "Let There Be Light" and "Poppa Was a Playa". "The World" still sounds unfinished.

I think Timbaland hooked him up with "You Won't See Me Tonight" (should've been a single), "You Owe Me" served its purpose. That snippet from years ago had potential to be classic.

Swizz is a producer people wanted far away from Nas projects, but his two productions are two of the best on LT2.

I'm surprised Nas is actually doing any promo for this at all considering the first one had no media run. The only promo the first one got was magazine ads. There was no single, video, interviews, or commercials. Nas never promoted it. It just dropped and that was it. People talked about it, but everything was pretty much word of mouth.

Well its completely different times. So I dont really compare the two. Things have changed so much in the industry since then.

Not really. The way the first one was promoted is more in line with how artists drop albums now.

Nas controls his own narrative. He’s not giving interviews to Flex, The Source, XXL , dikkriding Elliot Wilson, or obsessed Vlad. He’s doing interviews on Tidal in his Sweet Chic restaurant. He’s doing Drink Champs with Nore, whose signed to HIS label Mass Appeal. He’s selling Vinyl, Physical Discs, and Merchandise through his OWN website. The album is projected to be his TWELTH STRAIGHT album to debut within the Billboard top ten.

So the question my friend is... does Nas truly even NEED the media at this point in his career?

All great points actually. I was just always curious about the hip hop dynamic between nas and the hip hop media. Nas actually addresses what we are talking about in his music. So he is aware of it, but I'm glad he doesnt care.
