The first half was pretty damn good, but once "The Art of It" came on, it was over. It's like the album snapped and wanted to be just as good as the first one so it started working overtime. :mjcry:

I know Nas is still with us, but "Beautiful Life" sounded like the last song someone records before it's all over for them. And the fact that it came from Life is Good makes it even more sad. :mjcry:

What I'm trying to say is he did it again. Another great album. I need to sit with it for a while, but from the first listen, this album is right up there with some of Nas' best work.

I wasn't expecting "Beautiful Life" to hit me like this. I wasn't. :mjcry:

Bro Beautiful Life legit made me tear up. Thinking about my child and my own relationship with my brother. It feels like Nas stabbed himself and wrote the song with his own blood.

Some gems from the Tidal interview

He never finished Lost Freestyle. The 1st part is written..the 1st half of the 2nd part is freestyled..then the rest written.

Steve Wonder sent an attorney from his own team with word to take care of him during the Kelis days. Real nikka shyt

He literally only spoke to prodigy for a few minutes at the massappeal office. They were producing a movie for P. He said Let P rest he means a lot to hiphip and QB. Bigged up Hav knew him since Kindergarten Bigged up Havs brother by his government. Thats real

He said G Code chose No Bad Energy

the Pharrell record is 12 years old

They play all the new kids music in his dressing room while on tour with MJb. Mentioned Durk and 21 Savage by name

Says Dave East has his record

mad other shyt im sure itll be ripped to you tube or whatever soon

Listened to half the album on my drive home from work this morning. Treating it like a delicious meal from a 5-star restaurant and gonna save the second half for later tonight or tomorrow.

Favorite track is Lost Freestyle. Nas is so incredible with how he flows words together. :wow:

Best beat so far goes to either Statik or Heaty Petey, but I think Statik might have took it on that soul sample.

Love how Pete flipped the same sample from Straighten It Out. Crazy how he had the summer on lock almost 30yrs ago with that sample and about to do the same thing again nearly 30 yrs later. Track is an instant head nodder. Had to text my man about it as soon as it came on and he was on the MPC ironically when I hit him.

Now go holla at Large Pro and Primo you procrastinatin ass nikka Nasir.

@Ziggiy what exactly did Nas say about getting tired of celebrating Illmatic? What was the context of the conversation? He needs to highlight his other works of Art like IWW. Illmatic is the timeless classic and now The Lost Tapes series will be classic too. Bring the attention to the other ones.

He was talking about how he recorded some stuff for the album (presumably the one before Nasir became a thing) and that he was in the middle of doing Illmatic 25 shows and he’s kind of tired of celebrating illmatic because he felt like they had JUST celebrated the 20th anniversary.

Off the first listen I love this shyt, :blessed:.

I have little complaints that just come along with me being a super Nas fan and being overly analytical with his work...like I still don't like when he tries to cram too many words in a bar, I wouldn't mind it if you couldn't hear him sounding like he's almost out of breath during the last few words of the bar. If you notice, you don't hear none of that on Illmatic or IWW, idk when it started, trying to sound sped up or sumn...

But fukk all that, this shyt is fire! I wanna say 4.5 but some of that may be gas and my excitement so I won't give it a score yet, gotta run it back tomorrow. Only joints I don't like are that Jarrearu or whatever it's called and "Adult Film" (I actually like Swizz's hook on there tho, strangely). But man, Lost Freestyle, War Against Love, The Art Of It, Queens Wolf, It Never Ends, YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO ME!!, QB Politics, Beautiful Life... all them joints are pretty much perfect. I love that "Tanasia" beat but the song itself was just cool to me. He bodied "Royalty" lyrically but as a song it was just cool, dope. And No Bad Energy, Highly Favored and Vernon Family are dope too, cool joints (That sped up shyt was annoying me extra on Vernon Family, he almost sounds like Mickey Mouse on that shyt man!)

Great album, very good production and he spittin on that shyt. Gonna run that shyt like two or three times tomorrow on the treadmill, it's best to listen to Nas without any outside interruptions I've noticed over the decades. I may have to make room for this in his Top 5 after a few more listens...:ahh:
