The first half was pretty damn good, but once "The Art of It" came on, it was over. It's like the album snapped and wanted to be just as good as the first one so it started working overtime.
I know Nas is still with us, but "Beautiful Life" sounded like the last song someone records before it's all over for them. And the fact that it came from Life is Good makes it even more sad.
What I'm trying to say is he did it again. Another great album. I need to sit with it for a while, but from the first listen, this album is right up there with some of Nas' best work.
I wasn't expecting "Beautiful Life" to hit me like this. I wasn't.
